ok,here's what I have, finally got my 306 built,in the car,MAF conversion done, which leads me to this question,my ECU is an L1C,from a 92 thunderbird with the 5.0 HO,the MAF meter came from the same car as well.Cranked the car up tonight, and it runs(barely with help) like crap!,I know the computer should work in a Fox,any ideas?

Have you double checked the timing?

yeah,my timing is on,BUT I did advance my cam 4* with an indexable timing set,to bring my powerband down a little

The 4* should effect its running like crap. Give more detail Won't rev , not idling, backfiring, hard start.

pretty much all the above,I get it to fire up from under the hood with my remote switch, but I have to play with the throttle, once fired up,it runs rough, and don't want to rev up!

He was talking about your ignition base timing. Are you positive that it is set at 10 degrees?

Is it the firing order? The Thunderbird (1-4-5-2-6-3-7-8) is different to the Mustang (1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8).

yep!,by the book

EDIT:I just got to thinking about the timing,it is acting like the distributor might be a tooth off,I'll check it tonight when I get home!

the 91-93 Thunderbirds had the HO engine, which has the same firing order

OK. Did you use the LC1 wiring loom?

The only thing "a tooth off" will do is you may not have enough clearance to reach the desired timing.

If you were able to use a timing light and see 10-degrees, then being "a tooth off" will not change anything.

My bad Brian,I meant that figuratively speaking,IOW,I think I dropped the distributor in at the wrong timing setting when I was building the engine up,and have the wrong base timing!

fixed it,the timing was off a bit,and I had a couple of other small issues, but she runs!,still got a bad miss to deal with,I think it's probably an injector or two acting up,nothing major!:metal:

ok,after doing some research,I found out the L1C ecu will NOT work(from 91-93 T-Bird with the HO),check out the comparisons on this pinout chart!

Can you not swap around those dozen odd pin differences in the loom to get it to work?

nope!,b/c that particular generation of ECU works without a BAP sensor, and a few other subtle changes as well!

Let me know if your needing a harness. I still have the entire wiring from the GT.

the harness is good!,I DO need another A9 series ECU though!,I took the A9P out of my 'vert and hooked it up in my coupe, and she runs like a raped ape now!:D
