Whats the highest wet shot of nitrous that would be "safe" on a stock 302? 125 shot?

Depending on what year.
89 to 92 mustang 302's came with forged pistons. The 93 and up 302's did not, cobra included.

There is no set rule with nitrous, ask 100 different people, and you will get quite a few different answers. Me Myself, I would think 150 on a wet kit would be max I would want to do with a stock engine. However, I have seen people run up to a 200 shot on a stock 302. With nitrous it depends as much on your tune and safe gaurds such as cut off switches, fuel system upgrades, and so forth as it does the engine.

I ran a 150 shot on my cobra for several years on the stock short block

Thats what Ive seen also. I think I'll keep it at 125 if I go that route. It has the hyperuretic(sp?) pistons.

I was just going to use it as a toy to surprise a few people.

A 125-shot should be safe and more than enough to suprise someone. My 125-shot droped my ET from a best of 12.998 to a best of 11.667.

By the way, for added safety look at one of the plate kits. They will at least eliminate the problem of fuel puddling in the upper intake.

Most plate kits start at 150-175 hp.

125-150 doesn't have enough fuel going through to puddle, especially with the proper nitrous mixture

You could still jet the kit down. It may be overkill, but I still think that overall they are a bit more safe than the intake tube mounted setups.

I had a compucar 2 stage kit on a stone stock internal engine.65mmtb 73mm m/a 24lb inj. came off on 125-175 then hit second and hit it with 200. I dont recomend doing that but I didnt care and it never hurt anything but plugs if my timing was off. This was a 2 stage wet kit.You can run 150hp all the time but your fuel and timing need to be dialed.
