Carefull with that big of a shot with a plate. When you use a big shot like that distribution problems show up and thats when the pistons on the corners have melt down. I say stay at the 250 shot. My motor is coming out this week cause I put a bigger shot on my plate and had 2 melt downs. Hope fully is not that much damage, cause I'll have something different for FFW, :nx:

Looking for a cage for the road racing. If you can do some really good pic's and how to, even not to do if you see any.

You need to get a copy of Bill Mathis book (I think thats who wrote it).

It's title is something like Mustang performance 2 he details on how to do a great Road Race cage along with many other suspension and braking modifications.

I plan on doing some pics through the process of my installation. This will be my first time installing a cage so I am sure I will be posting alot of what not to do's:jester: . I am very picky with my stuff so I hope I do a good job. Welding it will not be a problem being I have welded most of my life and done it for a living for most of my adult life. The only thing is all the angles and keeping it level while trying to tack it up. because if it does not look good I will ripe it out and be out some money. But I have always done my stuff myself so why stop now.

Remember to get your headliner the way you want it first! Installing that after the fact is a bad idea... :nice:

I got the plates tacked in for the main brace and the brace placed wher I want it. All I need to do is cut the main brace alittle, it is alittle to tight to the headliner for my taste. I don't think I could weld the brace that runs into the trunk with it at that heigth. Its to close to the headliner or it is right on it. But here are a few pics of the floor plates tacked in..

I have a ?? I read in the book they sent that it should be at a 6 degree's of a angle backward.. Why

Make sure to weld at least 3/4 of the distance around the floor plates and do that before you weld any bars to those plates.

if you wait and weld them then the heat may cause whatever bars you have on them to twist.

a few pics of the main bar. I had to cut it down about 1/2 inch for proper fit. Then leveled it up and tacked it up.

Paint it where you're not welding then just go back over the welds when your done. Keeps alot of the overspray off of everything.

Looking Good:metal:

And dont try to paint it 5min before you put in,kinda makes a mess.

I was afraid to paint the main brace because I did not know where the other braces was going. But I do plan on painting the rest.
