will have Nitrous on it and potentially a blower or turbo...was dead set on getting my s-trim upgraded to a T-trim but i'm thinking going turbo instead...either way it will initially be NA for breakin, also haven't decided on cam yet

rtusnake

Turbo if you have the money to spend. What cams are you considering?

sleepinggt

Turbo if you have the money to spend. What cams are you considering?the major limiting factor

MPH blower or turbo cams or a nitrous cam and just run a 200-300 shot since i already have the nitrous kit set up on the car...could even add a second gear stage too pretty easy lol

Tim's cams make good power and have a pretty decent idle. I think the 5.5 and the nitrous should make it pretty torquey

i'm thinking about just getting a nitrous specific cam and then later on when i have the dinero for a turbo add in the turbo cam...turbo set up for it will be custom anyway and will probably be easier done with motor out of the car and the motor will have to come out for the cams anyway(can't take a 5.4 valve cover off in the car)

Just now read this topic. At first I was wondering where you got a hold of a V6 that could make it to 5.5L. :meth: When do you think everything will be together? Post up whenever you head to the dyno.

i'm hoping to have it finished and ready to go to the dyno by the first of august but we all know how deadlines work, i'm pulling the trans right now to send the converter back and get it restalled

I know exactly what you mean. I don't even bother listing what I want to do with my car because there is no telling when or even if I'll ever get around to doing it. The only thing I'm shooting for at the moment is some slicks for the track day.

sleepinggt
07-02-2008, 10:34 PM
well this is just fvckin peachy

i wasn't paying complete attention and i had all the bell housing bolts etc removed and went to pull the trans and it was moving but it was very difficult...i just assumed it was catching on the longtubes...apparently after i removed the starter i threaded the bolts back into their holes about 3 turns so i wouldn't lose them...i forgot they hold the seperator plate to and i just mangled the shit out of it ripping the transmission out thinking it was just being stubborn :banghead:

anyone know where i could get one of these?

sleepinggt
09-09-2008, 06:20 PM
which intake is that?
prototype swap intake, fits a 5.4 but sits at the exact same height as a 4.6 intake so that the 5.4 will fit under a stock mustang/crownvic hood

well it ran for all of 20 seconds last weekend, clicking sound coming from passenger side...

timing chain tensioner was bad, tommy replaced it

cranked up this weekend to take it to get it dyno'd and what incredible luck the clicking noise is not as bad as it was last weekend but apparently it wasn't just the tensioner that was bad, there is a problem with the guides too...looks like all that is coming off and factory ford guides are going back along with the ford tensioners that have already been put on

i actually think the engine still has a few kinks left to be worked out before i see real numbers...

i already fixed one vac leak i found and the pcv hose is collapsing on itself under WOT which is another problem

and i don't think i had enough nitrous in my bottle because when i sprayed 150 shot i only made 8rwhp more than the 100 shot :meth:

either way, stan's GTO got fvcking anihilated on the way back to birmingham:jester:

and i had an extra 200lb passenger, a complete second exhuast for a mustang, most of my interior, another intake manifold, an engine stand, tommy's tools etc etc in the car when i did it

i don't know just how much it will be capable of making but i'm probably going to use an electronic boost controller and keep her turned down to around 500-550 rwhp until I can afford a new trans :banghead:

couple quick questions. Someone mentioned on another forum the AC lines had to be moved slightly and a fuel line extended for a 4.6-5.4 swap. any truth to this? Oh and a 8bolt flywheel and clutch

What else is there to do besides basically bolt it in with a HPS intake or cowl hood and a tune?

(fyi mine if i do it will be going in a 98 GT 5sp)
