There are numerous specific specialty tools that can make the job a bit easier (swivel extensions, ratchet wrenches, ect...) but the above list will be a huge step towards having a set of tools fit for any mechanics garage.

Good list,but I'd like to add a couple of things,especially when building engines....

Cylinder hone
Feeler gauge(s)
Piston ring pliers
Small magnet pick up tool (comes in handy on valve locks)
Dial caliper

Not trying to jack your thread,but they are needed when building one up.Also fairly inexpensive.;)

you guys must plan on building these engines bone dry...lol.. you forgot one of the most important things....................................head bolt sealer and rod bolt sealer, oh yea also the grease lube for the bearings.........

Uh,those are lubricants/chemicals.He was talking about tools.
