disappointing results today. Boost peaked at 12 psi at 5krpm and fell to 10 psi. :fuss:
Don't know what is going on yet but it cost me 50 rwhp and about 25 rwtq

Hey QWKSNAKE what was ever determined by the loss of power in your engine?

QWKSNKE
01-18-2006, 03:40 PM
I am having belt slip issues. The rebuilt motor has yet to see 14 psi of boost on the dyno. Still working with it to get it resolved

What happened to the 16lbs that you were seeing the other day?
Why is the afr so bad now?

I know when I had my vortech on at first I was only getting 2-3 lbs of boost when it should of been making 8-9lbs. I called vortech and the guy told me to put a socket with an extension bar on the tensioner pulley and said to hit it with a hammer to get it as tight as possible and it took care of the belt slippage. I couldn't believe how tight you had to get it for it to hold.

Just imagine how much "drag" and pressure that is on your crank pulley:popcorn: ;)

Well I may not do the change. I had a deal worked out to swap my AFR 165's for some AFR 185's. Talked with a guy last night that has the same combo as I and the 185's cost him 40rwhp over the 165's.

Just another case where more is not always better..

Very disappointing day today on the rollers.

Car only put down 291/325 which is about 35-40 rwhp less than I was expecting. Peak power and torque is also lower than it should have been. Here is the best pull I got today 'tuned' (blue) vs my old n/a combo with the B cam (red)

http://qwksnke.streetstangs.net/dyno/N-61vs B cam.jpg

Guess it is time for some 185 heads and possibly a different intake

Call Ed Curtis. He can help you find the 30-40hp you're looking for.

Thinking some more about it today and I think the 1" spacer that is one the car now might be why the n-61 combo falls below the 'B' combo in the upper rpm. I did not run the spacer when I had the first n/a combo. Only reason I run it now is due to the needed clearance of the stud girdles and valve covers.

most of your problem lies in the intake.i can bet it would pickup a good bit with a systemax on it or maybe a performer rpm:D

Yeah I know. You know that cobra intake has some sentimental value (its the one of two places that actually say cobra on the car) but its time to put it in the stock pile of the other OEM parts..

i think we have had this talk before....i mean you have a cam that makes power above 6000 and an intake that chokes out at about 5800...wanna buy my rpm????:D:D:D:D
