ok guys my next question/problem is what guages do i need to run with my p1sc. boost, air/fuel,maybe a second oil guage to get accurate ready?
this car has a knock sensor i think ive seen a guage for it am i correct? do i need one for that?
just wondering so i dont waste money on something i dont need.

how hard is it to hook up the air/fuel guage is there something special you have to do. ive seen some for $300 and some a lot cheaper which one would i need.

what brand do you guys like that works well and looks good.
im trying to get everything together b4 the install.

any advice would be greatly appreciated..

As far as I know the SN-95 5.0 liter does not have a knock sensor.

I highly recommend Autometer, my brother use to work there many years ago and I visited their facility several times. Everything was top notch back then, plus it is American owned and operated.

The fuel gauge questions, some are safer than others, ones that directly read the fuel pressure off of a line into an isolator which connect to the gauge itself, those are porbably the more high doller ones you see, but they are safe to run inside the car. I am sure Autometer sells a kit for a 5.0 Mustang that you can get.

Air or vacuum (boost) should be as easy as connecting into a vacuum tie.

Oil would not be a bad idea, I would recommend an electric gauge with a sensor, you would probably be best off t-ing off of the stock sending unit outlet on the left front (lower) secion of the block. If you run mechanical, run braided steel line, as the plastic or copper line will eventually break causing a mess and maybe running the motor dry.

On the A/F gauge, the high dollar ones you see are the wideband, and really the best to get as far as accuracy is concerned. They come with a special O2 sensor as well, which means a trip to the muffler shop to get an extra bung welded in the pipe. The cheaper ones simply tap into the factory O2 sensor harness.

For forced induction I would suggest A/F and F/P Autometer gets my vot.e

well i was wanting a gear drive and the guy said if i had a knock sensor i couldn't run a gear drive so i called dealership and they said yes mine had one. so dunno:shrug:
i do have a wire going to the side of my oil pan.

so a/f guage a must..
as for the fuel pressure are you suggesting get one for in car or one for fuel rail?

the wide band o2 sensors have a short life. i would set it up so i could take the sensor out when not racing or tuning. but thats just me. i think the sensors are like 75 bucks.

That's NOT a knock sensor,it's a oil level sensor.IF you had a knock sensor,it would be on top of the block behind the lower intake. Also,a gear drive would'nt affect the way a knock sensor functions.;)

The dealership is an idiot.

The wire is for the low oil level sensor. There is no knock sensor.

the guy said the gear drive makes so much noise that the knock sensor would detect it..

this is just from asking questions so what im saying and asking is just here say. thats why here asking my new friends to steer me in the right direction.

said sensor was 66.00 dollars. since this is a cobra motor does that make a difference having a sensor?

That's true.

What? Someone was trying to sell you a knock sensor for a 95 Cobra motor for $66.00?

I'm fairly certain older Windsors in pickups had a knock sensor. That sensor would be inappropriate for your engine.

no i was told to call dealership to see if 95s came with sensor and the guy said yes.

i have just done some research instead of listening to parts house idiots and i can't find a knock sensor for 95 but can for 96 so i guess mine don't have one. either way i don't care.

was just wondering if i needed to get a guage for in car if i had a sensor. no sensor means i don't have to waste money..

I would put a fuel pressure gauge and a boost gauge and leave it at that.

get the car tuned and just monitor these gauges and you will be fine.

:stupid:Exactly.
Get it tuned with a Wide-Band O2 and then leave it. The boost and fuel-pressure will be all you need after that to stay safe. :nice:
