They used a red gear for the 3.08 ratio. I don't know if there's another step from that, though.

You could use the red gear, just keep in mind that you'll be going a little faster that your speedo says. Probably only a couple - few mph's.

4.10 is a little tall for a stock 5.0 - unless you plan on upgrades soon. I went with the 3.73 and am very happy. With the 3.73's I used a white gear which is said to be used for ratio's between 3.55 & 4.10 - If memory serves me right, a white speedo gear has 21 teeth.

I agree. Your powerband needs at least another 1500 rpm before going to 4.10's

4.10's should suit you nicely then. Unless of course you do a lot of highway driving. Get a bigger intake like a Pro-Products, Edelbrock, Trick-flow, etc. and you'll really be happy!

If you hae a Ford Motosports catalog, it has a table in it that shows all the different speed-o gears (tranmission driven and drive) along with the rear end gear.

I have one at home, so I can post later unless someone beats me to it.

I tried to post it, but it didn't work for me. I found this helpful, though: http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/buyersguide/speedo-gear.aspx
