gt-40s on a 351

i have a friend that is do a budget 351 in a fox gt. he is getting a 95 351. would it be worth the head swap? what all is involved in swap the heads?

If the headbolt holes are 1/2",it's a straight swap,if they're the GT40's with the 7/16" headbolt holes,he'll have to have them drilled out to 1/2".

unless something changed in the mid 90's, 351 heads and GT-40's were nearly identical.
I know that 70's-80's 351w heads were the same. That was where Ford got the idea from when they put them on the 93-95 cobras

Lee,there were some GT40's from the Explorer's that had the 7/16" headbolt holes.Why,I don't know,but they did have them,I've seen both variations on ebay,and on the corral.I did some research here recently when I did my head swap,and there are a few different casting #'s on them.Depending on the casting,they came with combustion chambers from 64.5 cc's,to 62 cc's (mine were 63.5 before milling,and are now right at 60 cc's).The Cobra's had the heads milled from the factory.I also found out a little trivia fact,the GT40's were originally used on Ford's marine engines in the late '80's.

If that is true, than you may see a 15rwhp difference installing GT40's on a 351w

hey joe tell allen he needs to just drop a 460 in it i can do some clean up on the doves and he can spray piss out of it. he needs to sign up here on the forums also that way i can keeep up with whats goin on with my car.:popcorn:

I thought someone on here told me my 95 truck 351 heads were the e7 type.
They are from '87 up on the truck and van engines,and IIRC on the crown vic PI's as well.Sorry Lee,I forgot to mention that.

he want have the money for a big block swap.lol and ur car? man let it go:jester: he dont have the interweb yet.i can hook him up with a 60 over 460 with doves and a edelbrock intake with truck style pan and duraspark dizzy for 500 bucks with a c6 tranny all he half to get is mounts for 60 bucks and headers i hook him up with manual brakes and a 1.5 inch body lift for freeeeebee lol i know prob more power than he lookn for.but we be the streetstang big block club lmao i havn fun this weekend messn with folks!
