should bosch platinum + sparkplugs be gapped at the rcommended gap or should they be gapped larger ...the reason I ask is I pulled the plugs on mine and found the gap at .055" and the book calls for .044" any answers appreciated

if you have to run bosch, gap 'em at what the book says.

if I have to run bosch, I'll run 'em to the parts store still in the box and trade for some NGK's...

I've always read that you don't gap platinum plugs myself. And x2 on NGK's!

Brian - you should close them up to .044-.042 - then get some better plugs, like NGK's. I'm running Motorcraft @ .042 with 16-17 pounds of boost. When the boost peaks, I seem to experience some blow out from the plugs...it runs a lot better with less boost, so I was gonna close them up, but I'm not sure how much.

.042 seems like a lot with 16psi of boost. I would think that .035-.036 would be best

.32 to .36 runs best for me. 20 psi. Motorcraft 764 I think. Need to look to make sure. Change them every 10 k,

Thanks Lee! I'm gonna re-gap this weekend & see.

Aren't the 764's Autolites? Same thing, anyway I'll try .035 as I'm only a little over 16psi. - One thing I have noticed is a slight orange color on the plugs (it's always been like that.) I blew a head gasket about 6 months ago, had the head magnafluxed & rebuilt. Put in a Ranger roller cam and a 1035 head gasket....still orange.

I don`t know if anyone has tried using the accel plugs or not...but the crossover for the 764 is ACCEL # 0514

I pulled the plugs & they are at .032 & no longer orange. I was probably thinking .042 from Maggie's LX...Duh.
