http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r276/umphreyfamily/newcoupe001.jpg
The car was from canada and had some surface rust,so I took and wire brushed the whole bottom of the car and painted with tractor semi-gloss,it's supposed to prevent rust??

Kelly, put some high temp paint on the rotors and it will keep the rust off of them. What else do you have left to do? Let me know when you head to the dyno, if I can make it I would like to go. Looks like things are coming along pretty good.

klu408
01-27-2009, 09:15 PM
Do they have it in clear? I like the look of them now? I have to finish my fuel system and all my wiring!!! :banghead: ( I forgot to mention I HATE wiring)
As far as the dyno goes I'm going to buy a widebansd and tune as close as I can myself, then I may carry it to get fine tuned, Ive had too many $300 dyno bills!!!!!!!!

sccapri
01-29-2009, 09:00 PM
You shouldn't have a whole lot of wiring to do with a carb. If the rotors aren't coated with something, pretty much anything that is not touched by the pads will get rust on them sooner or later.

Yea buddy, I have not got it tuned in perfect yet, but at 7 psi and in drive (manual Valvebody) it breaks loose @4500rpms around 50mph with the et streets...
Then I put the manual boost controller on and at 15 psi it just obliterates the tires as soon as it builds boost,But I have only went to 4k rmp because the A/F are very lean on 15 lbs (14 to 1 !!!)
I can only imagine what 20 psi will do :metal::metal::metal::metal:

ps Matt can you get me a ballpark price on a stainless 3.5 in downpipe built.

klu408
05-04-2009, 07:33 AM
Yea the carb is actually doin good now. One of the fibers clutches wore down and and welded itsself to the friction plate!! But atleast I know that it has Billet input and output shafts, HD drum, 6 pinion planatary, He put alto Red clutches in the 1st and 2nd gear drum and The alto Blue kevlars in the High Gear drum. He told me it was good for all I could put to it now :metal:
I know one thing before it shifted kinda sluggish no firm shift AT ALL. But now MO BETTA.
Did you ever get your car jetted? How about the Job?

grabbinandstabbin
05-04-2009, 09:48 PM
got the job. going for my medical tomorrow. jetting the carb down didn't do any good, so i pulled the motor back apart. i took my heads back to have them checked out and found that they didn't put the valve guides in when they built the heads. guess they forgot. anyway it gave me a chance to do some other things to the car. i ordered some .030 forged pistons and now installing my turbos. come by sometime and check it out. let me know when you take your car to the track, i would like to see it make a pass. see ya.

Well Had some traction issues last night but still managed to get a pass in that was spinning pretty much all the way down the track  Had to get out around the 1000 ft mark. Im gonna have to get me some slicks and do some suspension tuning, so I can turn the boost up!! :metal:

60'..........1.540
330'........4.202
1/8.........6.363

Was hoping for 18 to 20 but it wont do me any good if I cant hook it on 12.....
9.70 is really all the ET I'm looking to get so I dont think it will take much more boost if I can get it to the ground. I can up the 2 step and leave on more boost and that should get me pretty close I think??
I was leaving @ 3500 and 4psi

I think it has alittle more than a 9.70 in it

Well Had some traction issues last night but still managed to get a pass in that was spinning pretty much all the way down the track  Had to get out around the 1000 ft mark. Im gonna have to get me some slicks and do some suspension tuning, so I can turn the boost up!! :metal:

60'..........1.540
330'........4.202
1/8.........6.363
mph........114 !!!!!!
1/4.........10.36
mph........104

I think it has a 9 in it.... This was on 12 lbs. of Boost and E85

Base on the 1/8 mile et and the 114 mph, it should have run a 9.92 at 143mph, very strong mph for such low boost. Get ready when you turn that knob, strap down real good cause you going for a ride. Do your self a favor, do it on a safe track, got to MMP so you don't have to worry at over 140mph that shut down area after the 1/4 mile at steele and the clocks are set up right at MMP. Congrats on the numbers.

Just make sure it's on a drag radial. :banana2: Even if it's not you can still TnT.

Are they a metric size or are they 26-11.5-15, etc? If they are metric then yes, if not, then no. :weep:

You can still TnT all you want. It's not a rental. You just can't run the ET Streets in the event.

If it isn't raining i'll be there. Only for tnt though i don't have metric tires either.

i think that is kinda cheesey not to allow a d.o.t. drag tire to run at that event. just my opinion though, not that it even matters, after all it is a charity event. ac

Well I went to Steele friday night , my car is still popping through the exhaust?? I havent been able to run more than 1/8 mile on account of popping so bad! I'm going to carry it to the dyno and see if I can figure it out.

My Best so far was a 6.21@114 with a 1.39 60 foot :metal:

Yea the popping was due to to much timing, and Im going to have to figure out a way to enrichen the a/f for more boost.

We guestimated that with the popping @ 5k and behond was making 600hp or so when I made the 6.21 pass
