what kind of clutch cables are you using? Heard any noises out of the t/o bearing to make you think it has screwed up the bearing retainer?

The bearing retainer is broken

the only noises are in neutral with clutch out but its the input bearing. the first cable came with my ford motor sport kit. 2nd came with the bbk kit and it pulled the guts out of the cable. and now i dont know just a old used one. i can pry the clutch folk pretty easy back and forth.

Somethings in a bind. Or the masher's gone out. :D I would put an automatic in it.

We just pulled chris's(mustangmusle) tranny out, he was having the same problems. His tob retainer was broken

I would think so, never had to work on a 3650. The bearing retainer just presses in on a t56

joecoupe, I think your older trans would be a 3550, no? (for a 5.0L)

The input bearing retainer is just a simple swap really. If they're broken they're junk...the fork might also be bent, broken, or in a bind.
