Works on 4wd trucks pretty well. You would need to make sure you weld to where you can still get your c clips out

If you want it REALLY locked, you have to weld it like this....

I did it on an 81 Malibu I had. It worked. Never broke, but the car only made about 300hp.

A spool isn't that expensive..

..but why not get a rebuild kit for crying out loud?!

What about a spool or mini spool? They're not that expensive, and you can always go back to the traction lock if needed. Plus,I don't have anymore 31 spline spider and side gears laying around.:D

mini spool is almost a 100 for an 8.8. The welder is free:jester: And who would want to go back with that trac loc anyways?

my car has had about 1000 miles on it this year. and a spool u will have to do c clip eliminators or 9 inch ends. i could buy a good locker by that time. plus i think these spider gears have alot of wear on them. plus i only have about 35 bucks in it.

In my other car i daily drove it with a mini spool with no problems just tire chirp

That's more than just a chirp. It's premature tire wear.

If that doesn't bother you, then I guess it doesn't matter. I personally don't like spending more money on tires than I have to.

mine will wear out from spinning before that wears them out. and we race our cars more than drive them.

Yeah, you'd need c-clip eliminators with a full spool, but not with a mini spool.

mini spool is almost a 100 for an 8.8.

I know Seco used to have the mini spools on sale all the time for $30-$40,but that's been a couple of years ago. Anyways, just a suggestion.:nice:
