No need to mini tub unless you're just after "the look." You can minitub and put wide tires, but then you run into the risk of rubbing lower control arms and shocks/springs. There are offset control arms and coilovers available however.

I have seen 275's under the back of foxes without a minitub. What would you need more than a 275 for?

I mini-tubbed the coupe I had and with coil-overs and aftermarket LCA's I could fit a 28x10.5w with ease on a stock length housing. My wheels were 10" wide with 7.5" backspace

Well im running the 295/45's on a 15 by 8inch rim im ab to go 5 lug and i want to put like a 315/35/17 or maybe a 315/25/17 i just want the look of agressive ness but i also want a bit more handle on the street..

even with the 295 you need more wheel to have it handle better. It would be cheaper to buy another set of wheels/tires for street use to maintain safe handling.

295 wide tire needs at least a 10 inch wheel

Ahh, so it is the look you're after. I already envision this car heading down the "racecar" path, especially after a minutub...so proceed with caution. :D

(ps... Cheo, pretty soon, your old-man will have to step up his combo!)

So you recomend at 10inch rim with a 295/45/17??? Or just on any 295

A 295/45 is going to be really tall. I'd use either a 295/40 or 315/35 on a 10-10.5" wheel. I had 295 BFG KDW's on my 18x10 Saleens and they were just about the perfect width for the wheels.

Actually, I have 295 Goodyears on my 18x10's now, too. :D

Since we're talking about it, I had a 265/50 under mine and now a 255/60. Both on a 15x8 with a 5.5" BS and I still have quad-shocks! They're flipped around though.

And since Joseph had to bring the Vette into it, I will mention that the Viper had 335/35-18's on it... and there was room for MORE.

I agree with the 295/45 being way too tall, but I'm thinking a 295/40 would still be tool tall IMO. I run 255/40-17's on a 9" rim and I think the sidewall height is perfect for a fox-body.

Also, keep in mind that wider tires also require either dumps, or some fancy exhaust fabrication around the axle.

I'm not sure about you, but I love my tailpipes... both for the sound and looks.

I run a 275/40-17 on a 17x9 with quad shocks. From my searching around a 315/35/17 will fit with minimal clearancing & flipped quads on a 17x10. Seems like there's a thread on the corral for cars running 315s and how they each did it.
