Hey guys I'm back..... But need advice
I just bought a 95 cobra and it has the following parts.

DSS 306 with forged ft
Twisted wedge Heads
Trick flow stage 1 cam
70mm BBK tb
Pro M mass air with 24 lb. injectors
Cobra upper and lower
BBK equal length headers and off road x pipe with bassani catback
3.73 gears
And a TKO 600

The car made 287hp and 335 ft lb But it started falling off around 5000 rpms.
Do these numbers sound about right for this combo or is something off?? And we made the most power on the stock timing table?? Add timing and it would lose power?? Air fuels were 12.5 across the entire pull. I will post some pics tomorrow....

has it had the computer tuned? if not thats the problem. a friend of mine had a red 95 cobra, and it made around that. then he went back and had it tuned and it made a little over 320rwhp!

Needs 30lb/hr injectors with matching mass air along with a tune for the computer. (room to grow)
The 24's will work but are not optimal if you are going to turn a lot of rpm as the duty cycle goes up....
Maybe a better cam? I do not know what the specs are on the TFS-1..........

See my post on the corral in your thread concerning the rwhp that the 306 made that was in the '93 cobra. Or here on this forum > http://www.streetstangs.net/showthread.php?t=13385&page=3 < post number 30.

The falling off could be the cam. 12.5 a/f is rich for my taste on a n/a motor. It does need a tune.

Well the Bad news is, That was with a tune!!! We started at 248hp. 12.5 was where it made the most hp, and the a/f was straight as an arrow.

I would say cam and intake. I never had mine on the dyno but i can pick up 2 tenths going from 12.5 to 13 a/f. What was intake air temp?

it is the intake.
?That is really good torque for a 302-306

Well something is definitely not right if it was falling of at 5000 rpm. The cobra intake that was on the 306 that was in Lee's old cobra did not fall off like that....of course we did a little more work to it on the flow bench too so that helped.

What fuel pump are you using? Are the springs matched to the cam? What are the cam specs on the TFS-1? Has the upper & lower intake been ported? If so was it done correctly? Meaning it was not just hogged out so that it killed the port velocity?

Was this on a load bearing dyno (mustang dyno)? If so was the dyno setup properly for a mustang?

And last but not least who did the tuning on the car?

Dale,
Remember that the sn95 cobra intake does not flow as well as the fox cobra intake.

Kelly,
Can you post up the graph

My blue car has the same cam, Cobra Intake, and some Holley heads... real similar combo I think. I've never dyno'd it, but it comes to a head at 5200-5300RPM. Sure it will still rev out more, but the engine is done. I shift at 5500. Cam (for those in question) is 221º/225º with .499/.510 lift. It's a nice cam and I have heard of folks laying down 310-ish to the tires with a good intake and heads. It sounds a little low to me, but those SN95 computers are just plain nuts. What were the coolant temperature readings and the air-intake charge temps? What fuel? What pressure? Where was the wideband O2 sensor placed?

Oh... and change your sig Kelly! :D New car needs new pics!

I'm sorry about not knowing the answers to the questions everyone is needing, but I just bought this car like it is so I have no idea.
I do know coolant temp was 170 to 180 and it was on 92 octane pump gas.

Robbie I will NEVER tell hahaha

The Honest truth is that I wasn't looking for a mustang but I ran across this one for a PRETTY GOOD price. So I bought it to turn around and sale it but you would never guess who fell in love with it!! THE WIFE :metal: I have been casually mentioning twin turbos but that's not going real well....

rtusnake

yeah, its all finished up and ready to roll. just took me a little while to get the new engine tuned and all the little bugs out but shes a runner now. should be in the nines when i run it the first time this year. still need to get some 4.30's for the 10.5 tires. the problem was mostly fuel pump and regulator issues, new aeromotive and reg. took care of that. good luck guys, ac
