Hey guys I just picked up a 1985 f150 engine and trying to figure out what's up with it having v belt straight drive water pump. And cast iron intake with motorcraft carb. And efi dizzy. My thoughts were 85 had serpentine. Belt with reverse rotation pump and had the aluminum 2v intake. I know 85 was the year ford was preparing for efi. But the trucks were behind the stangs on upgrades. Have not had time to clean the intake and get numbers from it. I also think someone has performed a pully swap. Any thoughts or info on this is welcome. Thx Clyde

The person I received this from is not mechanically incline. And gave me 2 1970 302s with it. I am thinking he used the pully setup off one of those engines

'86 was the first year they went with the serpentine setup. That distributor sounds like it may have originally been a California truck (emissions crap), but as far as the intake, I don't know what to tell you. I thought they went to aluminum intakes in the early 80's.

It also has 02 sensors. I believe you are correct on the intakes. My 81 4x4 had serpentine belt and. Alum 2v intake. And my 83 bill elliot edition t bird had the cfi and serpentine water pump belt but the alternator was still v belt. I am just trying to figure it out. Lol. Thx

Is it an aluminum water pump, or a cast iron one?

Yeah, Ford was/is notorious for changing stuff on their trucks mid-year. The 95's like mine went through a lot of mid-year changes, and you have to know the build date when getting some parts.
