The original fan on the gt is cracked.. Would this setup be a good replacement?

Not a lot of cfm there... Better off getting a Taurus or Fiero fan and getting a wiring kit from O'Reilly's.

ray if the alternator is still factory you might want to do a 3g before putting the elec fan on.

:yup: I'm running an SHO fan on mine. The BEST one to get, if you can find it, is from a Mercury Villager/Nissan Quest minivan. You cut the four little tabs off it, and flip it upside down, and it fits like the factory shroud.

lol you had one on that cobra. i thing they start putting them on mustang in 94. there a 130 amp. you will have to upgrade the power wire on it to handle the power. do a search on 3g swap on a foxbody and you will fiine all yo uneed. im going to look at pull apart and get one there. for about 40 bucks. where a new one runs about 200 bucks. also you will have to trim up the bracket alittle to let it fit. im going to be doing this next to my car. plus i got to get those gears installed.

:yup: I'm running one too. You also have to get a different bolt for the bottom mount, and a nut and bolt for the top (or tap it for a bolt)..

Stick with a stock manual fan. Electric fans will give you nothing but trouble.

God only knows how much money I have spent on electric fans and they are not worth it

i have changed out manual fans for electric fans and never had trouble what so ever. my last 240sx i had that i turboed ran some nice fal fans and loved them. you could blow dry your hair with them. but theres always a bad one somewhere.

I might keep the manual fan anyways... that on3 turbo kit is looking real nice and the manual fan will work better for that

LOL. I have had a lot of bad ones then. I have never owned one that could cool a foxbody in traffic as well as the OEM manual fan. I pissed away at least $600 in electric fans when I had my cobra in two different engine combos.

I agree. When I had that big ass Procharger intercooler on mine, my car would never run in the correct temp range with a 4000 cfm Lincoln fan unless I was on flat road on the interstate.

Italian LX went back to a manual fan in the coupe with the 418 for the same reasons I believe.

No problems with mine either, but then again, I also have a 3 row radiator too.

Same here! Big Ron Davis aluminum radiator and a 2 1/2" cowl helps the cooling big time!!! Now on the other hand, years ago I bought the "Black Magic" fan and it sucked. Probably would have been better with the RD radiator and hood, but I'll never know... those fans were WAY over-priced!

i have had good luck out of all mine except one that i bought off ebay! budget gt has one and u cant keep it on or it will cool to much. i have seen to many clutch fans come apart and take out alot of other stuff.

A good radiator and elec. fan is good.. Throw a 2-3in intercooler infront of the radiator and see what happens though... It will over heat in traffic fast...

Yep. I tried many combos, but never could get one to work in stop/go traffic with the A/C running in mid-summer. My last set-up did pretty good for the most part, but the temps would tend to creep up a good bit in city traffic with the A/C on.

I'm sure electric fans work just fine on a low-horsepower car with no A/C, but for the combos Lee and I were running (with A/C), they just wouldn't cut it in the hot, Alabama summers.

I've run Sn95 electric fans on many cars and never had an issue with cooling.

I've been running a Mark VIII fan w/ a DCC controller on a Fluidyne radiator. I just replaced the Fluidyne due to a leak with a Summit (Northern) this weekend. The Northern is 1/4" thicker than the Fluidyne was so I'm expecting it to perform as well or better. No A/C but I've never had any cooling issues with it, even in 280 stop and go traffic for about an hour one time last summer.

Yeah, the A/C always made a big difference with cooling for me. If I left it off, it would do fine, but a few minutes after turning it on, the temp gauge would begin to creep up.

Contemplating on my pulling the a/c on the car. It works great!

If it works, I would not pull it if I were you. It robs very little horsepower when the clutch is disengaged and, unless you're going to drag race and need to shave that last .005 second off your timeslip, it's just not worth getting rid of.

+1...

of course the difference in with Brian and me compared to some here is that we drove our cars everyday. So a/c was a requirement.

Personally I like the underhood look with all accessories on the car. Engine bay looks to naked with p/s and a/c missing

my working a/c will never be took off my 5.0, if it breaks i will fix it. im not going to burn up in the summer like i did with older projects.

im going to add a bigger radiator and a good elec fan and tey it out. i know in the past some of you had problems but i got to buy a new fan anyway since mine is cracked bad like rays. this car is just a weekend toy anyways.

Let us know how it turns out. If you can get a high-power car to stay cool with A/C in the summer time, we'd like to know the combinatipon.

got the "northern" Summit rad and mark8 fan on my mont with the DC controller too....we'll see how it does with the 4Inch intercooler core once I get it back running, it ran fine before just on motor but that was with out the added heat of the turbo so time will tell.

i dont think i will be hitting your numbers of high power. i might be putting down around 350 to wills after the build.
