I have a 1994 bronco 5.8 efi (e4od which is ecm controlled)

I wanna put a carb on it (dont slap me) i could at least tune it ...seems i have no tuning options, and all the trappings of efi (hoses wires and crap all over the place)
no obd-II tuneability, cant upgrade cam , no really practical way to get rid of speed density... i keep seeing a edelbrock performer intake/carb/cam/heads package ,pertronix ignitor ignition....and just go knucledragger on it .... would be so easy .... it already has crappy fuel mileage what could it hurt..... any ideas would be great!!!!!!!!!

if the carb is tuned right it will get the same or better mpg

the only way you would be able to carb it is to put manual trans or non computer controlled in it

I say sell the bronco and buy you something comparable that should get better gas mileage and have less issues.

nope ...... gas mileage is not the biggest issue its a 6400lb truck i expect that
also i have found that i will have to get a standalone trans controller that kinda messes that idea up 400$

I think you're off on that weight a bit (more like 4600;)).

:nice: Good find! I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for the stuff to do a MAF swap on mine.

after pulling the whole harness outta the donor , i might be getting cold feet.
i have every piece other than hard engine parts from the firewall forward and ecm...
it just seems a little more daunting now that i am looking it in the eye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's really not that bad, you have the hard part done! The harness will pretty much lay right where it needs to go.

What's fun is swapping the entire harness from nose to tail along with all the interior  Even that only took a weekend to do.

i am slowly figureing it out ,will have to repin the eec ecm connector www.fordfuelinjection.com (http://www.fordfuelinjection.com) has been great so far ,the later maf setups did not use a bap/map which kinda threw me for a minute!
i plan to just take the injector and maf wireing from the old harness solder and splice or maybe use weather pack connector from http://rjminjectiontech.com/
Reuse the ecm pin terminals from donor harness when i repin the ecm connector
delete the knock sensor from donor injector harness....(5.8 does not have place for knock sensor) but that is great cause it is in a terrible place , will be a lot of prework cleaning and inspecting donor harness . The guys at FTE forums http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php along with www.streetstangs.net (http://www.streetstangs.net) have been a huge help
