Hey Brian, try the picture attachment feature and see if it will work for these pictures. It will save you the hassle and bandwidth on your website.

The block it will be easy to rebuilt, but that head is going to cost to fix, a good machine shop that can weld aluminum can reshape that chamber, but again is going to be expensive.

Umm, are the valves suppose to be open like that with the head off the car?

QWKSNKE

Its a LH side head Paul.

Yeah Joker the cams are still in it so the valves will be open in some of the cc's

Oh yea, dammit, I forgot about the whole over head cam thing. I was wondering what would cause them to get stuck like that :darwin:

Do you know the guy or what all he did to the car? Man that car was a hack job!!! the driver side motor mount was missing 1 of the 3 bolts that went to the block and another bolt was half was in....put it this way, when I was underneeth the car taking the exhaust manifold off Brian could see the motor moving from the top. And atleast 5 of the injector connectors were cut/spliced and one of those was a different connector than the rest. I was just wondering about some of the history of the car because it apperars the motor has been out of the car before and it wasn't because of the paint job.

Paul the heads wouldnt work anyways. Your MarkVIII heads are not the tumble port heads that 99+ uses.

Thats a f***** up mess. What acctually caused it?

Well, we pulled the head because the #7 plug blew out and that is what we found. I'm really wondering if the cylinder was like that before the plug blew. It's kind of wierd because none of us have ever heard of a 4V blowing plugs.

Wasn't there an issue with early 2V truck motors blowing plugs out?

Yeah, and Mustang 2V motors. We've heard of a lot of them blowing plugs, but never a 4V motor.

Yeah I think 99-00 maybe 2v's had problems with plugs blowing out but it's never been a problem with the 4v's.

According to KB it went from 99-02 and a few very early 03's. I know he researched it about a month after he bought his 03L

I believe 96GTS's Navi motor he just bought has one of his heads repaired. Suspect a blown plug.

I've seen 99-01 GT's throw the plugs. My 00 did it, few 99's on stangnet did it. San~man from stangnet, his 01 did it twice.

I've never heard of a 4v doing it, but its not out of the realm of possibility.

Didn't Mike (GoldnGT) have a plug blow out on his '00 earlier this year?

What did the plug threads look like?

Perhaps the plug was crossthreaded, therfore held no or little clamp load and came loose?

I agree with Edgar that the block should be rapairable, you could always sleeve that cylinder as well.

I would like to get a 4V head one of these days (a free one) to clean up and use as a decoration in the house, if he gets a replacment and is going to ditch it, let me know, I'll take it.

The problem has not been cross threaded plugs....too common to be something that simple.

If you want a 4V head then come by the shop....I've got 2 RH ones sitting here ;)

I researched it before I bought the L, so I wouldnt blow a plug....just a block ;)

:jester:

Happens alot to 2V motors, but I have never heard of this happening to a 4V

I think I have read that some of the 4V heads were susceptible to the plug blowout like the 2V's. I'd have to search maybe stangnet to find it.
