you might be able to get an additional $100 over a normal t-5 if someone is looking for one.

I had a z spec in my 93. I like the gear ratios of a t-5Z better than a normal t-5. I also like the pocket style bearing for the input shaft better that came in it and the extremely late t-5's too

Yeah, the Z-spec is basically a '93 Cobra T-5 with different gear ratios and only a slightly higher torque rating. Definitely worth a bit more than a World Class T-5, but only if the buyer knows the difference.

Nice find. :nice:

After you're done with the build, would you be interested in selling any of the left-over parts?

The Z's are also faceplated, correct?

No. Like Brian mentioned in an earlier post. The z-spec is the 93 cobra t-5 with a gear ratio change and that is it.

It breaks just like a t-5. :D Mine was rebuilt many times

The 93 Cobra T-5z and actually all 93 and later V-8 T-5's have phosphate coated gears. Not a big deal but a small difference.

For some reason I am thinking the blocker rings are made of a different material

They're carbon fiber. First gear ratio is 2.95 & 5th gear ends up at .59 if I remember right. I put a Z-Spec gearset & synchros in my T-5 when I rebuilt it along with all new seals & bearings.

That is what I was thinking but didn't want to say for sure.

5th was .63 in mine

Yep, you're right about the .63 5th. I'm not sure why I was thinking .59. I pretty much only reused the case, mainshaft, & 5th gear/synchro.
