So I ordered the QH, binary editor, and the 4 way switch. Any advice for start up with tuner?

LOL....

I am not sure about the Moates software but be ready for a nice learning curve. I enjoyed the deep conversations I had when learning to tune with a Tweecer in my old cobra

From everything the people tell me about the qh is that is decently easy to learn to use. Now learning to make the worlds best tunes, well thats gonna take some learning lol

Also make sure that you get Clint's eec-analyzer as it will almost tune the car for you.....if it is mass air..........

I have not gotten that yet. But I also dont even know how to use it yet either lol I have a friend of mine coming down in the morning to help get me going and atleast learn how to operate it, and then ill let the EA analize it for it.

Dale and Big, I got one on the way as well....should be here by mid-week.....the prospect of paying for retunes (I'm kinda fickle and I have a tendency to have stuff break on me...lol) was not very appealing so I'm thinking this route may be the way to go for me...besides what is another 2 years before I can drive it???? me--->:kick:<---me

I actually sold my setup because I am putting my car back factory. You can do whatever you want with the software. And yes the QH will work with any eec processor prior to 05-up. I liked everything about it and would have loved it more if I didnt own a 95 car. Any other car and it will be gravy!

ya, from what I gather the 94/95's are bastards to tune, mine will basically be a 87-93 mustang, albeit a 4 door mustang , I just ordered a Innovate LC-1 wideband to stick in the provided 3rd bung in my downpipe so I'm looking forward to this...

what is it about the 94/95's that makes them difficult to tune?

There amount of control in the computer means it has to be way more in depth tuned. There is about twice the parameters to change versus the a9l/p

The 94/95 cars are more load based when tuning... Where as the '88-'93 foxbodys were more rpm based. If you do not get the Mass Air Flow Meter setup correctly on the '94-'95 cars you will have a he'll of a time getting the tune dialed in... They are not any worse than the '96 up mustangs when it comes to tuning them IMHO.
Although the '88-'93 foxbodys are easier to tune...;)

Thanks dale. Thats what I was trying to say lol Getting the mass transfer setup correctly is super tough to me. But I am also not a tuner.

I'm not a tuner either...lol
I sometimes change the load switch on the '94-'95 cars depending on how much boost they are running....;)

Yeah everyday I drive my car after knowing what I know now with tuning the cbaza strategy. It just makes me angry to know I just fixed the problem and it came back within a week. All I lack is a stock mass air housing and hopefully my mass air transfer will be back correct.

Tuning is one of those things that I don't mind paying somebody else to do, so this wouldn't be an issue for an experienced tuner, right?

Most of the time no its not. But on the 94-95 cars they really need to be experienced in just those cars.

I don't mind "TOO" much the initial tune, it's the re-tunes if you change anything that irks me....buddy of mine's dropped "near" $1500 just in tuning, since he's had his 05.....first it was with the roush blower, then it was exhaust and an overdrive crank pully(?) and smaller blower pully, then it was cams, new rear....just a hard pill to swallow for me...

I've got an OK tune in my car from the previous owner, but I'm hoping to fix all of the little stuff that I see wrong (fuel pump, exhaust, gears) and then have it re-tuned. Hopefully that will be all I need until I decide its time for me to start building engines again...
