Anyone know the best place(quality and price) to get a set of headers ceramic(like Jet Hot) coated?

Have you yourself used them?

Thanks.

Jet hot is the only place that I know of to do that, and they are $$$ when it comes to their work, I called and they quoted $300 to do my long tube MAC headers.

My dad knows of a really good place up in Chicago, they are very good, and as I recall reasonable.

If your interested, I will get you the contact information.

Why not have him post the information in this thread so we all may benefit?

I will post it here.

I will call my dad later today to get the information.

I know that he had them do his Nova SS headers, and my brother has used them for his race cars (headers and pipes). and all have looked really good.

I have no problem with that. :chug:

Also, does anyone in Alabaster know what Custom Finishing in Helena does other than powdercoat? My brother had a set of wheels powdercoated there.

There's also a place in Kodak, TN:

Had several friends use them with great success. At the least, shipping would be less than it would be to IL.

And I have an alternator pulley coated by them...

Sealed Power has a set that comes coated like that but mostly just the skirts.

The theory behind it is it keeps more heat in the combustion chamber, where it belongs. Makes them a little stronger, too. I've heard of doing the same to the head of the valve as well, I believe...

Yeah, they've got that listed on their price list too.

I've heard the black piston skirt coating is for oil retention on the skirt for decreased friciton to prevent scuffing of the bore. Never heard it was for heat retention. But I have heard of the face of the piston being ceramic coated for heat retention.
