I got the car back from the body shop about 2 months ago and it looks good but I haven't put any wax on it yet I was told to wait and let the paint cure but wasn't told how long to wait.
Here are a few pics.

In the past, I always heard 3-6 months but........

Go to any body shop and they will tell you to never wax a car. Polish only. They claim that aftermarket paints do not require wax and actually can ruin the paint over time because it acts as a sealer and does not allow the paint to breathe.

Research it and see what you think..

i have painted a couple of cars and all i use is a spray and wax ...no paste but thats just because i dont like the white stuff it leaves behind in the cracks

I've always used the turtle wax black box kit for black only cars it doesn't leave a white residue in the cracks but it takes a while to do the whole car because it is 3 different steps around the whole car.

Depends on quality of paint used. I have seen Goolsby wax a car in less than 24 hours of coming out of the paint booth.

My uncle paints cars, and he's always chewing me out for using wax. Says you should never have to wax a car if it has good paint on it. Personally, I've never had one that looked as "deep" without wax as it did with wax.

Agreed, in my experience a good hand polish does offer the same results though

Zaino Brothers.

Fastredponycar uses another good brand but I can't remember the name of it.

Meguiars is good for a 'cheap' polish

Drew uses mostly Griot's stuff, and the results he gets are pretty impressive. I'm sure like most things it's 80% technique and 20% products used, though.

I use Turtle Wax Ice polish on the Lightning, as well as Zymol wax. It gives it that wet look.

Adams polishes are great! They have a complete lineup of car car stuff. I use it on Maggie's car and some others when I detail. However, for all my cars (because of their paint condition) I find that Bon-ami works best. :jester:
