Can anyone offer an estimate on building a 331?
Forged pistons
Aluminum heads
Good cam
Good intake
Plus misc. parts
Got a friend with a project car and I told him I would inquire here.

DSS 331 kit. Currently on sale for $880. Normal price is 1200
New heads. 1000-1400
Intake. 400-700
Cam.. 300ish
Budget an additional $500 (min) for fluids, timing set, oil pump, gaskets, new lifters, possible rocker arm upgrade, etc

I would budget a $1000 for machine shop it you plan to balance everything and have them install pistons on rods etc.

Good point. I would hope a purchased kit would already be balanced but it may not be
