If you delete the egr smug pump can you buy a belt without putting a dummy pulley there? Also what is the deal with all freaky sizes from standard to metric on the brackets???

I have bypassed that and the idler pulley, but I can't remember the belt size.

What I did to determine belt length:

Take a piece of kite string and route it through the pullies just like the belt would, bypassing the smog pump. When you get back to where you started cut the string and tie the ends together. Now head down to the local autoparts store and match up your "template" (string) with a belt. Its a good idea to get one a little smaller than the template because of the tensioner and belt stretch.

Yeah, but $10 says they'll still ask what kind of car it's for. :D

nah they shouldn't if he tells them he needs an xx inch 6 rib belt.

Speaking of which, I need to pick up another s/charger belt for my car.

That's what I'll do then. another ? can you plug the back of the heads without pulling them? Lee said he knows you can with the bellhousing and trans. out which I need to do anyway to put new clutch pressure plate and throwout bearing in but I've got all my brackets off now painting them so I was going to go ahead and delete smog since I gotta take upper intake off anyway to replace my valve cover gaskets (cheap a$$ autozone cork gaskets someone needs a good kick in tha nuts for that idea). Is there anything else I can do away with beside smog and egr? :chug:

I think that you can plug the back of the heads as long as you have a short enough bolt.

It has been a long time, but I thought that the bolt size was a 5/8 course thread. I also used some high temp sealent on the bolt when I did it.

Also do I just plug off the 2 vacuum hoses going to egr tube? Also the tube coming for exhaust pipe is there a plug to cap that off or just cut and weld up?

Just a little update gt is back together everything painted and smog and egr deleted the 905k6 belt works great without the smog pump there.Replacing the timing chain did wonders for my mid to upper range the old chain was toast. Only thing left is valve cover gaskets and I'll be ready for dyno day
