I can use a 98 Cobra T45 in my 96 GT, correct? What all do I need to change, if anything?

Im using a 98 gt t-45 in my 96 cobra if that helps at all :p

You will have to replace the speedo ring in the tranny in order for it work right I believe. SVOPaul and Boosted23L did my swap and know the details.

yeah i have heard the crossmembers are different as well. Believe the one in the cobra sets back an inch farther.

The crossmembers are different, hence the different sets of subframe connectors from the GT to the Cobra. But I think thats because of the tailhousings being longer in the Cobra.

I am trying to figure out why the tail housings would be different

I am sure that Darren could swap the tail housings if that is the case.

Its a known fact that Cobra owners are trying to compensate for other areas lacking. So Ford gave them the longer shaft to help them cope.

And yeah, I can swap tail shaft assys if needed. Basically, my buddy with a 98 Cobra has a G force T5. I want to buy his T45 (broken fork), rebuild it and have it onhand incase mine breaks. That way, my car is down for the weekend, rather than 2 weeks while I order parts and have it rebuilt after pulling it, etc...

Thats it.. if I am remembering right you have to swap the tailshaft in order to make the crossmember mount right. Damn cobra's being difficult.
