a thread came up on corvetteforum about racing a stang and this guy said he was going to race a stang with a 200 shot. i said this could not be done anyway so he had nothing to worrie about. then this guy chimed in and said it can be done. anyone ever seen a stock 5.0 with a 200 shot?

First off A 5.0 will take 200 shot if you are up on the tune ane and run extremly fat.Second yes the 94 and 95 mustangs have 5.0's but they have hyper pistons. The 86-92 stangs have factory forged pistons and they will definatly take the 200.I have a vette and I have 6 five liter stangs in my shop.I had a 92 gt running high 13's w/just a gear and slicks. The vette's are faster stock/stock,but the mustang does not require a n extreme build to run in the mid to low 12's.

You could put a 200 shot on anything... its all in the tune but you cant expect it to live very long at all.

but would it survive one shot?

I've known of many people running 180 or 175 shot, so 200 isn't that much more.

i assumed the stock pistons and fuel system would shit out

i guess you learn something new every day

The forged pistons will hold it fine, hypers I would be a little scared. I have seen a couple of different people run 200 and up to a 225 shot on a stock bottom end. How long it will last you cant really say, but yea it can definiltey be done.

but 19lb injectors?

Yep, all you would need is a good fuel pump. Wet kits dont use the injectors to add fuel, they use a solenoid that is tied in to the fuel feed line, therefore the injectors dont have any effect on a wet kit shot size.

yes you could run a 200 shot on a bone stock 5.0 BUT I do not think you would see more that what a 150 shot would put down at the wheels. 200 shot just wouldn't be very efficient.

either way, the car should run low 12's on slicks

Better not miss a shift and bounce off the limiter! :metal:

That is why they make window switches
