After the recent addition of Dynatech Longtube headers, high flow cats, and midpipes to the 03L the exhaust sound has increased (imagine that).

The exhaust is loud through the first 3 gears, but once in overdrive its not much different. But it is still too loud for me inside. So I decided to add some sound deadener to tone it down a little inside the cab.
Some of the Lightning / Harley Truck guys have had great results doing this. I used "B-Quiet Extreme" brand verses using the "Dynamat" brand simply because the B-Quiet is way lower priced and most say is actually better than Dynamat. It will add 50-75 pounds....but on a 5000 lb. truck...who really cares.

While I was at it, I rewired my Line Lock and moved the activation switch from the upper console to the underside of the steering column shroud.

I also wired up my door panel courtesy lights so they would be functional like they were in the 99-02 Lightnings. But mine will be red lights with red reflectors instead of white with red reflectors.

I got about 1/3 of the floor covered with the sound deadener last night. I should be finished soon since I have 2 days off, and will post more pics when completed.

This is how it looks when you pull the carpet out, there was no factory sound deadener anywhere. Also the rear cab wall has two large vents that let noise inside, especially the vent on the passenger side that is less that 2 feet away from the side exhaust tips.

Here are the first pics of the interior stripped down ready to start the install.

those vents are there to releive the pressure inside the cab, for example went you shut the door that pressure has to go somewhere. don't block those off.

exactly. if you block those off, it will increase your door closing efforts drastically.

the interior looks real clean

I know...I will be "relocating" and making them much much smaller.

If you only knew how hard it is to shut the doors now....you would be surprized they even are there....you have to SLAM the hell outta the dorrs whn the windows are up.
Many of the L/HD guys have blocked 90% of the vents off with no problems.

btw: you should know me better than that...I research EVERYTHING before I even think about doing it. ;)

I wish Mustangs came w/o sound deadener. Less weight and that stuff is n-a-s-t-y when you go to install the cage :(

Updated pics.....

Two layers on floor and back wall of the B-Quiet (100 sq ft used) then added the V-Comp (Black 3/8 foam with rubber backing)

I ran out before I got to the doors and had to order more.....while I was at it I ordered new speakers :D
