Well, I am sure I will get flamed for being different and going with the Ford Blue so don't hold back. What are your opinions. I took a chance on the color but I really like it. I figured with a silver car I could get away with about any color. I almost picked Plum Purple.

I used VHT Engine Enamel and I used Carmex on the "Cobra" lettering. Wiped right off.

What do you guys think?

Thanks guys.

I didn't have any high temp black paint. The fronts are coated but the backs were a little rusty.

It's different. Not in a bad way, just different. It would take some getting used to for me.

Cool, I thought about painting the brkt and polishing the caliper but that'd be a lot more time involved then I spent.

I would like to see yours though. Thanks.

Yeah, I plan on polishing my calipers eventually; just haven't had any time.

At least they aren't yellow!

I like the blue on Silver!

. . . but that'd be a lot more time involved then I spent.
Also, I would say it would be less time involved to polish a caliper since there is no need to wait for the paint to dry. :P

. . . I think I may go do mine right now. :D

It took me a whole day to do mine and I only polished the parts you could see from looking at the wheel. lol

So, far, I have about an 1.5 hours into one wheel (including pulling the wheel, firing up the compressor, and searching for my freakin' pads. :tlash: I had to stop because I'm going over my parent's house for a cook-out, but I figured I'd go ahead and post my progress on one wheel.

I still need to smooth out all the casting blemishes that the polishing now emphsizes, but other than that, this wheel is pretty much complete. I even polished the top side of the cooling fins, but now I see that you can't even see them with my little 17" wheels.

Damn, polished crap is hard to get good pics of. :(

Thanks Nathan.

Brian the polishing looks great. And I watched a movie while the paint was drying. I also didn't have the tools to polish mine, at least not at my house.

Yeah, it does require some special tooling. I was just thinking also; are the "Cobra" letters raised or engraved? If they are raised, it would be a bigger issue to get them polished.

I do like painted calipers and I think yours look great; however, I'm more of a polishing guy. ;) Although, polished stuff is a lot harder to keep up and looking really good all the time... oh well.

Btw, here are a couple finished pics the first wheel with all the castings smoothed out:

Well don't guess I need to take pics of mine, Looks just like yours lol. Did you polish your whole caliber? I just quit alittle bit over there edge there. On mine the word cobra is recessed so it was easier to polish. I have seen some though that aren't.

Brian. Yours look awesome and glad you approve of mine. The "Cobra" is raised and machined flat. So yeah it would be hard to polish the inside of the letters.

Glad you guy like it.

I think it looks great. I want to do mine in red. did you take the calipers apart or paint them on the car and just tape everything up?

BTW, how are they holding up?

I like em wicked. To me red calipers just look like crap on alot of cars. Blue and silver always work good together

I did mine in a semi-flat black color. I also painted the hub area of the rotor, and vain section. This was about 4-5 months ago and they have held up real well.

I just hit all the parts with a wire wheel on a drill, sprayed and wiped off with brake cleaner, and paint.

The paint I used is a solvent based paint that is good to around 600 degrees C

Holding up awesome. I just wash the brake dust accumulation off when I wash and they look like new.
