HERE'S THE LATEST UPDATE ON THE FORMER 347 TURBO:

He decided to keep the turbo kit and threw together a stock-crank, stock-rods, .030 over stock replacement piston 306. It's got a stock cam (the other had too much lift) and the Victor Jr's with a Victor EFI. 55# injectors and and AOD. Remember; the car's not intercooled either...This car is docile, quiet, and drove to & from Blakes. :nice:

After some fuel-pressure & timing tuning, here's the numbers. Decided to stop because of the bottom end. :D :D 18 psi.

Notice and compare the 347 curve (Comp 266 HR cam with .560-ish lift) with the stock cam curve!

that graph looks strange to me. I thought turbo cars always produced a higher value on the torque side compared to the horsepower.

also why does the power fall off so much through the rpms? Is it because of the lack of an intercooler.

Nice numbers by the way :nice:

Those bottom curves are torques. The convertor is supposed to be 3k...The owner says it's great on the street. I think it was flashing. Or maybe the fluid was hot?!
Power was climbing. Every psi we added upped the power about 15. We could've done 500. But why. It's just a stock motor already being stressed.

NOt bad. I really thought it would be about 100hp higher than that with those heads and 18#. Is it a non-lockup converter? That would soak up the 100hp it's missing pretty quick.

I bet it's a beat on the street!

Yea, but the stock cam is limiting it as is aways the case on these 302's. The turbo is a bit oversized as well; would probably pick up 100+ hp with a pretty big camshaft...and on a lower boost level.

the bottom end will last longer than the block:D

put some c16 in it and crank the boost up

I had the same combo at one time. SBE with heads and intake. Dynoed 540hp 680tq and ran 6.36 at 113. Cant wait to see what that runs! Keep us informed.

Ran the car @ Bama dragway...no times or speeds that night?! why bother?

Anyway; he raced a jugged-LS1 6-speed that's supposedly gone 6.60-6.80's. He lost the holeshot and had to make-up 2-cars after blowing the tires off (mickey DR's). Lost by a car or so he said.
Also beat a 7.0-7.20's Camaro by about 3-4 cars...so I'm thinking it has a 6.8 in it.

Car went 6.81 @ 103.6 at Holiday Beach last night. It's got a noise in the motor again now tho... :shake:

Nice. I will be glad when my car gets traction so that it will go 6's in the 1/8

The turbo 306 went to the track last night...

After eating 2 thrust bearings out of the motor; he finally got the trans/converter/driveshaft issue worked out (somehow everything was pushing into the flexplate/crank really bad).

Car off the foot brake went 6.90's easily. Off the transbrake, car went 6.68 @ 102.xx  with a 1.52 short-time. All out of a stock-bottom end and stock computer with 55# and a 42# MAF meter!

He did switch cams tho: it's a Bennet Speed Density cam. Stock lift with a little more duration. Must be about right. Drove car home too. :D

It's a 3.55 with an AOD. Should go 10.7-10.8 pretty easily.

Brian Bradford was there last night too. Did not run any faster than before.
Somethin's up with that car.
