View Full Version : question about tire sizes on 18x9 and 18x10 wheels

What would be the ideal size for 18x9 front and 18x10 rear wheels? See, I may have ditched the Cobra R look since I am having trouble with this cheap urethane front bumper getting fixed right. So I may go with the 18 inch gunmetal deep dish bullits, not sure yet...

Right now I have 255/35/18(9.5 wheel) front and 275/35/18(9.5 wheel) rear tires. I may have a buyer on just the wheels and not tires. I was wondering if I could use the same tires I have now since the front would be .5 narrower and the rear would be .5 wider.

Thanks for any help!

David

you really need a 315 out back for it to look good and probably a 275 on the front.

I could throw the 275's up front and buy 2 rear tires...315/xx/18? what exact size?

This is what I found on the Toyo site:
F&R Proxes T1-S 275/35ZR18 95Y 95 9.0-9.5-11.0 25.6 lbs

Yeah I really wanna do that but the money situation right now may not allow for me buying two rear tires. For now I may have to make due if they will fit and then buy 2 rears later and move my 275's up front. See the way this deal is working I might be getting some stock bullit's with almost brand new tires to throw on my coupe, so thats why I am wanting to do this deal so bad! BTW, Chip, if you read this, don't worry I'm not going black I'm going the stock gunmetal color deep dish 18's, so our cars won't look so alike!!

I wouldn't mind execept for people flaging me down on the road trying to talk to you. :D I guess the would figure out that mine is the one that's always dirty and yours is always clean. :D

btw, I went with 255/55s up front on a 17. I wish I had gone 255/45s but I think the 255s are the perfect width. :dunno:

You put 55's up front? Post a pic up of that isn't that kinda thick? Yeah I figure for now the 255's will look fine up front, won't be as stretched out as they are now since I will be going a little narrower anyway. The back is what I am worried about, but hey it won't be long till I buy some 315's to go on the back, the move the 275's to the front!

 Will 275s work up front?

I'll have to take a pic later. It doesn't look bad, but you can tell they're a little tall if you look hard. Nobody else has really noticed.

I have talked to several people and some say it depends, I may have minimal rubbing when the steering wheel is at full lock to either side, but nothing I can't get used to!

03-04s have 275s all around. Right?

I thought the Cobra R had 265/40/18 all around? I could be wrong but I swear that's what was in the Mustang book I have at home

You may be right, but I thought it was 285s.

Go with 285/35/18's in the back and keep your 255's in ther front, I agree with Chip that 255's are a perfect width for the 9" wheels.

That's what I was wondering about with the 275s - the clearance issue with the wheels at full turn to either side.

You can use 275's on the front of sn95's but not on a fox

yes they will scrub, i have the 285/35/18's on the back of mine, i wish i had went a bit wider, but i don't know about a 315? good luck finding them, if you do go with a 285/35/18, i would get a drag radial if you can.....

I was able to sell my Toyo's with the wheels so I ordered 255/35/18 front, and 285/35/18 rear Nitto NT-555. Had those on my BMW and was well pleased... Wheels are already here, just waiting for tires, man the anticipation sucks!

Cool, can't wait to see them on the car

yeah but its worth it when they arrive....lol

you got the right tire sizes go to tire rack or somewhere and lookup the saleen tire sizes, their rims are 18x10, 18x9, and thats the tires they run.
