Just curious to see what ppl have seen
What is the best time you seen on a stock 5.0 fox body with no mods at all, no slicks, no gear, no pulley, no filter?

BTW not a cobra either, just a LX or GT.

Im saying low 14s high 13s with a good driver and a good motor not a worn out motor.

low 14's

They'll tell you 13's...even 12's but it's BS. I've experienced Speed-Density and MAF cars. Best they do stone-stock was about 14.1-14.2.
Slicks could break into 13's. Removing Filter, 3.73's, timing, fuel pressure, and slicks could do high 12's on the right car with a cool night...but that's not stock then is it?

Mine was a 4 Bbl (85) and the best I did w/o slicks was 14.35 and with borrowed slicks 13.89 (all with a 2.73 and 7.5 rearend) :metal:

i dont take it personally, i will be the first to admit that my car biggest hold back is the driver (other than not running :D ). hell my times improved a full second (in 3 runs) with nothing changing except my driving.

I would be willing to BET that Lee could probably knock off atleast a second consider how well he drives..I only made 2 passes, and I was terribly rusty on driving.

You've people seen stock 5.0's run?

Best I haev seen was a 88 LX with 3.73's and K&N. It went 13.97 twice. Also had a speaker box in teh back and would cut low 1.9's on radials.

Stock is untouched...You're right; it's a rare occasion to see one ever like that...let alone see one go down the track. I really would consider a K&N drop-in and timing adjustments still stock tho. A stocker with timing, K&N, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, good gas, etc. can really be fun. Especially the 87-88 coupes! I drove a stone-stock 88 Texas-SSP car once that felt WAYYY stronger than a buddy's 90 lx with GT40's, Cobra Intake, B303, 3.73's, and H-pipe/headers! Heck, my '87 would totally annhialate LT1's and all it had was the air-silencer removed!

original plugs, stock air box, stock exhaust, stock timing and the stock 2:73's. only thing changed was the oil, coolant, tires and brakes. i would say it was stock as you can get.

someone should dig up the official stock definition. :joe:

The first time I ran my 85' was in 1985 at Suffolk Dragway in Virginia. That day I raced 8 different 85' GT's and beat them all day long(stock down to the paper filter), they all had 3.08 gears and I had 2.73's. I was running 14.59-14.79's and they all ran anywhere from 14.89-15.20's. That day I had about 1500 miles on my car and I was accused of running Nitrous or having a built motor, later I found out my car was one of the last 85's and had a Ford Motorsport Motor(230 hp) and 86' true dual exhaust. Eventually after my car got broken in, I was able to pull off some 14.35's in good air with a Amsoil foam air filter, underdrive pullies, a carb spacer and all synthetic fluids. Pretty good for a car that got 28-29 mpg on the Highway. The 84 and 85 Corvettes I raced ran 14.70-15.00's.

:stupid:

I don't think I ever ran mine completely stock. Mine was an auto so it would barely get out of its own way stock. My brothers 88 Iroc-Z STOCK with 2.77 rear and automatic would smoke me when we were both stock.

Before I ever went to the track I had installed 3.55's, Headers, adjusted timing, K&N, and it already had a gutted stock H pipe with Flow 2 chambers.

im my mind i see stock as being , stock intake, heads, headers exhaust system and block and rotating assembly. I mean changing the plug wires and plugs or oil and air filter arent gonna make much differance. Oh and stock suspension, nothing removed that was on the suspension as factory.
Would you consider stock being the same as factory?
