Finally got off my ass and painted my damn hood. Granted this was my first attempt at painting and was painting outside in the driveway with the hood hanging from and Engine hoist. Now just have to let it cure for a day and wet sand the clear and buff.

Hell yea. It'll buff fine. Did you clear with the gun too?

Yea, cleared with the gun as well. Primed with a different gun. Wet sanded the primer this morning and let the hood sun/air dry. Then took a cleaner and wipe the sanding residue off, applied 2 coats of base following the directions on the can, then 3 coats of clear with a 3-5 minutes flash time between coats.

Under side is painted as well.

only had a pint of paint to do the hood. It was $110 for the pint of paint and a quart of clear plus the additive.

Yep, paint is damn expensive. the E4 red on my 03L is $70 a pint or $110 a quart....thats just the paint!...not including the clear and other stuff.

Red is one of the most expensive colors, due to the pigment cost itself...
