My car hit the hot spot on 2 different occassions, since then i found water when i drained the oil 1st time, then a lil bit of water 500mi later on the next oil change from the moisture coming out the tail pipe i think most ( half gal. a day) maybe going out the exhaust. Ricky will see find out this week.

Initially DSS told me the Permatorques would work for me if i S/C'd it down the road at a mild 6-8psi setting. Well if new gaskets are needed am deciding to go with a stouter set, if i have a blower ready to kick off 10-12 psi no sense in have a gasket holding me back.

Ricky said to check out Cometic multi-layer steel gaskets, he's impressed with them and their ability to be re-usable several times. What gaskets do ya'll use an like?

For note my app. is daily driver under harsh conditions, not that it matters too much since a good gasket is a good gasket wether for track use only or traveling across the hot deserts.

I am using the cometics in my DSS stroker with 150 shot. Granted I have not taken apart the motor since being built I am still impressed. Before I swore by Fel-pro 1011-1 but after several going by by under a 100 shot I went with cometic. I ordered them directly from Cometic cheaper than anyone had them at the time. I think I ended up giving $130 shipped for them. Took a while to get them because they were in the process of moving to anew location and they had a machine fail as well.

yea, from their site they mention their new facility, they also adjusted their prices to $154 now, i have the 331 DSS here meself with the E7 heads wonder what bore size gasket did you go with? They listed 4.030 to 4.20.

I seen you ripped on yours hard back at Montg. Silver

I think I got the 4.080 bore.dont remember right off the top of my head. I went that big do knock the compression down some.

Do NOT use Cometics if you run or plan to run AFR heads. I found out the hard way this year they will not seal off.

I use Fel-pro 9333's

No, i'll have this set-up with the factory E7 heads for very long time. I have my other E7 heads from the other motor for a Stg 3 work over if i need the extra flow from the int/exh. ports (mine atm are stg.1). With a mild blower my lil coupe would be a handful as it is, my mentality is just because it's flooding hell an high water doesn't mean i have to slow down.

They are not designed to seal off the coolant tunnel above the cc. They will not sit right and cause compression to leak into the coolant system

We have been running felpro 1011-2s on the street car stuff and cometics on the race stuff.

yeah I used them back when I used to spray the 150 shot. Never had any problems. When I went to the Procharger I couldn't keep from blowing them

i would highly suggest getting some different heads, other than the e7's for a motor that big, i have a set of e7's in my car.... still a stock 302 eddy performer, and a b-cam with 1.7's....... they are highly ported, 1.94, 1.60 valves, and they still don't meet close to my expectations....and i think they would starve a 331 etc. for air....

i am saving for a set of AFR's to go on the new motor....... If nothing else i would go with a set of gt-40 heads and have them worked....

just my .02 cents....

Oh and i use the 9011-1's as recommended by Edgar, for the iron heads, haven't had even close to an issue with a few over rev's (damn 4.10's) lol , and a little overheating....

i have wondered about the coppers..... are those the kind that you have to put the copper sealant spray on them to seal or the dead soft kind.........??

Don't use sealer spray on the SCE's. It causes the silicone seals to fail.
