A few people have been asking if I am getting anywhere with my turbo build on my Gen 2.

So here is a few quick pics. I have been so busy tearing this thing apart that I havent taken very many pictures this time.

I made a cardboard template of what my upper alum. sheetmetal intake will look like. And I have a friend at work milling the lower plate right now.

I am about to pull the motor today and so what kind of problems I might have with the head on the passenger side from Track Day @ MMP.

While the motor is out I plan on cleaning up the engine compartment, frame, wiring, etc. to make it look a little better.

So not a whole lot to take pics of yet. But at least I finallly got started. :)

My truck looks like a theft recovery ....again :D

Just seal the cardboard with some shipping tape and use it. :D

Btw, was it really necessary to paint the template?

Hmm, I knew you were doing the gen 1, but didn't know there was something else in the works for the gen 2.

Looks like it will be sick.

So did you max out the KB or just get bored with it?

UPDATE:

I found some scarring on 3 cylinder walls that I didnt like so I tore down the shortblock and took it to the machine shop today.

Plan on boring the engine .020-.030 over along with new pistons, rings, bearings, and re-balance the rotating assy.

My new heads came in a couple of days ago. As soon as I get my cams and some more goodies I will post pics. :chug:

Damn man, looks loike it went a little lean. I did a valve like that on the bottle once and it looked like someone took a torch and cut the valve in half. Sucks about that part, but the rest of it looks good.

THE TURBO IS FINALLY HERE !!!!

Garrett GT42-76 :turbo:

This thing is freaking HUGE compared to the T70 on my 93L. The T70 weighs 18 pounds, the T76 weighs 43 pounds

btw Italian, UPS delivered it about 15 minutes after you left here the other day ;)

 That's a nice turbo. A guy locally is putting that very turbo on his 347 Boss-block coupe and shooting for big numbers...like 4 digits. That turbo should support 1000 hp with the right tune-up, motor, and camshaft(s). :yup: Who'd you get it from? We can get Garrett stuff still at cheap prices for anyone interested. :nice:

A little update on my Gen 2 Turbo buildup.

I finished up the rear portion of the exhaust.

The muffler is a Dynomax Ultraflo with a 4” inlet and outlet. I used the stock hanger to hold the muffler in the stock location and used the tailpipe hanger in a little different location to hang the 4” tailpipe. The single exhaust tip came from “svted”. I smoothed and polished the tip so that it will match my Boyd wheels and welded some pipe to the rear to make it a bolt on tip using a vband clamp so that it can be removed to clean and polish.

I also have the headers all welded up and ready to be coated (no pics of those just yet)

But once the headers were finished, I decided to start at the rear so that hopefully my welding skills will improve some more before I get to the front half that will be seen more.
