Cleaned all the nasty coating off the frame rails --- this stuff is REALLY NASTY----I hated working around the motor with this stuff, its like tar and gets on everything.

Now its gone, well at least its gone all the way to the trans crossmember.

First pic is the “before” pic

Second pic is after I cleaned off the coating, it left the frame a silver color.

And the last pics are after I painted the frame with a satin black paint

Here are some teaser pics of the engine.

I powder coated pretty much eveything you see in the pics except for the engine block/ heads, and the motor mounts. (Engine block wouldnt fit in my oven :jester: )

My parts finally came in so I finished up building it yesterday.

I hope to get it installed sometime in the next week or two, then begin designing / fabricating the Turbo headers along with more intake fabrication and continue to rewire and replumb alot of the wiring and such.

and now the pics:

Thanks Guys !!!

Here are some mockup pics of the motor with the turbocharger.

Please excuse the crudeness of my cardboard upper intake and fake induction tubing. I just wanted to get a feel for how it will layout once in the truck.

So you're just using the manifold intercooler, or are you planning on doing water/meth injection too?

 Tommy, I might take you up on a block-powdercoat. My pan's already gloss black, is there a metallic grey/cast iron powder? PM me.

Eric, you are the "King of Bling"

Looks great!

Oh and that tar stuff is actually a wax based coating, frame companys dip the frames in a vat of liquid wax, then hang dry them.
You might beable to heat it with a heat gun and get it to flow easier, then scrap it off.

Yeah, I knew it was some type of "wax", its nasty stuff.

We actually had a guy on the Lightning Owners Club website from the plant that built the Lightnings in Canada explain to us how/why they use that stuff.
