Got some Nitto 275/40/17's, lightly used. Got them on ebay after patiently watching auctions for 2 mos. I was actually the second highest bidder on this set, but the winning buyer screwed the seller, so he contacted me with a second chance.

He offered them to me for 165 plus shipping, I counter-offered with 165 INCLUDING shipping, and he bit.

Just need to get them mounted up this weekend...

Your car makes enough power to break traction?

:jester: Sounds like a killer deal. :nice:

They are used, but not badly. Guy said about 20 passes on the strip using a trans-am.

No more miles I put on the car, they'll prob. dry rot before they wear out...

Eventual plans call for a 315/35/17 on my 8.5" repro rim, once I get the axles swapped, etc. Assuming I'll have the clearance to do so.

yeah I really need to get 2 of those wider OEM wheels. It would make my 275's handle better

Will a 315 fit on a 8.5" wheel? I thought that required a 9" wheel at the very minimum.

It would be pretty close to cramming a 275 on a whimpy 7.5" rim. :D

They actually are a pretty good fit on a 9" rim - I'm hoping a 8.5" rim won't make much difference. Still haven't decided for sure, though. Here's a thread with them on a 9" rim:

Yeah I've seen several of them on '03 Cobra wheels. I might see a set on a set of 10th anniversary wheels soon.

Nitto 555R 275/40R17s for sale only worn down to the wear bars after 14 months. Now 1/3 throttle will roast them. Getting a new set for Christmas :chug: Look forward to the awesome traction again

Out of curiosity, Don, how much are you asking for them?

Was just kidding about for sale. Shipping would be a killer anyways. I think they got turned into a door mat or sandals by now ;)

I thought they were cooked but the new ones still roast at 1/3rd throttle, so I guess my tune is better now.
