I just wanted to say Hi..

I have an '87 Stang that I'm working on right now. I just bought it & it had a horrible, horrible, horrible (did I mention horrible?) oil leak. (lower rear & front intake seal)

Yesterday I got it together. Now I need some help.

Heres a short Video. http://media.putfile.com/1987-Mustang

Heres the deal as of now.

-Fuel: 45psi Should it be bumped up?
-Plugs: Motorcraft (gapped @ 52) Should I regap to 35?
-Timing: ?? (Will time it in the Morn.)

-Where do I hookup the oil press. gauge? (Autometer Pro-Comp)
The sending unit on the drivers front of the block doesnt have a extra port.

-Where do I hookup the boost gauge with a Vortech?

-I forgot were the Vac. line went for the FMU.. Is this right?
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a27/HazePerformance/Mustang/FMU.jpg
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a27/HazePerformance/Mustang/fmuvacline.jpg

& Last.. What are the 3 missing Vac. lines for?
I know at least 1 is for smog.

Thanks
Carl

My base fuel press (vacuum off) is set at 40psi
Yes plug gap will have to be narrowed down to at least .035
My timing is done in my Tweecer (DIY EEC tuner) so I am unsure where your base timing should be set. One of the other guys here should be able to help you out. I will guess that it base timing would set no higher than 6-8 degrees. You really need some type of boost timing retard unit so that your drivability won't suck when you are not in boost. Depending on how much boost you run will determine where the timing should be set

I am kinda confused on this question. Explain a little more

Boost gauge can be tied into any vacuum port coming off the intake

FMU vac line is correct

I want to install a mechanical Oil press. gauge on the cowl...but.. The stock sending unit in the block has a different unit in it. (I guess for the Vortech ??) How do I install the oil line?

Can I "T" into an intake Vac. line to install the boost gauge?

BTW.. Thank you for the help.. :chug:

Carl,

yes you can 't' into a vacuum line :nice:

Did you install the vortech on the car or was it already installed when you bought it?
Remove the current sending unit and install the hardware provided with the pro-comp gauge. If you are wanting to use the mech gauge and the stock gauge, then will have to get a tee that fits the stock type sending unit and the autometer hardware.

Concerning the oil pressure gage, as Lee said, you'll need to get a T to plump the mechanical line, and have a fitting for the Vortec and stock sending unit.
It looks like behind the electrical sender there is another line taped into the stock off block tube, this I would assume is for the Vortec. Remove the electrical sender and put a T there, then reinstall the electrical unit and plump the mechical gage.

Also I always recommend using a stainless steel braided flexable line for oil pressure gages, you do not want to use the plastic or copper type lines.

Unless this pic is old (see below) those are 19# injectors, not 24# injectors

Are the injectors orange top or blue top?

 I'm a f**kin idiot!! :headbang: I was looking at them when I did the re-assembly & said to myself.. "Hmmmm, I thought the 24's were Blue...." I've had 4 other Fox's over the years. (only 1 had 24lb'ers in it) The last one was in the late '90s. I thought I checked out everything on the car before I bought it.. I better go over it all again..

..Thanks for bringing it to my attention.. :nice:

Thanks again for all your help. :chug:

So let me see if I have this right..

I can remove the electrical unit. Which is the entire round can thingy? Then I can tap the autometer in where the can was? (BTW..I don't want the stock gauge to work)

Thanks :metal:
