I'm new to windsor motors. I have a 86 5.0 block that I want to stroke. I plan on running the motor in my 65 mustang. My goal is to build a motor or have amotor built for the 7.5 heads up at the local 1/8h mile track but would like to cruise with the car on the weekends some too.
My question is how much head is going to take.
would a 185 AFR be enough with a roller cam that matches the combo.
I already have a victory jr intake would this be fine for my plans?
p.s. i will probably run a c-4 tranny and have a 9 inch built up to run on leaf spring suspension per class rules
thanks guys car will weight aprox 3000 lbs

The 185 will work well but you will want a cam that has more lift and duration on the exhaust because the 185 AFR has the SAME exhaust port as the 165. Sucks. Cam will need to be close to: 226/230 and .540/.560 on a 112. LSA That will rock.
And I have some 5.400 H-beam Eagles and some .030 JE flat-tops F/S for a 347 if you're interested. No crank, but I can get a good price on one.

One overachiever is the Edelbrock Victor Jr. It can be ordered with solid or hydr. springs, has 2.05/1.60 valves, and they support 700+ hp pretty easy.
Another can't-miss is the Trick Flow Twisted Wedge. Like $1100 in Skummit.
Either is just as good as an AFR on a 347.

LOL
My cam is 225/238 @.050 .528/.557 if my memory serves me correct on a 113.7LSA, Dale has my cam card. Its a 347 with AFR185s.

If you want I will double check the specs & re-post/post the specs after I get back from the dyno tomorrow.
Let me know.

I am thinking a AFR205,super victor,1 7/8 long tubes, cam around 590-600 lift,235-245 at 50 on a 110 center. Should run 7.50s with no sweat turned down and also run the 7 oh race turned up. Good luck with the combo.
