how do you tell if they are gt40 and not stockers? i have some in my garage i was told they were but i don't even have a 5.0 anymore so i need to clean out my garage...

They could be GT40s and be stock heads. ;)

I'm not sure off the top of my head what stampings would be involved, but you can alway measure the size of the valves.

They have gt40 stamped on one end of the heads I do believe.

Actually I think it is "GT". Can't remember but I believe it is either stamped next to one of the lower head bolt holes or in the rocker arm/valve spring valley. But there is also a way to tell by a casting line on the fron of the heads

Your right Lee, it is just gt that they have stamped on them. I knew it was sonething like that but didnt remember.

the gt heads have casting #'s along the lines of F3ZE-AA or F77E-AA and have either 3 or 4 lines on the end which has something to do with the time of casting from whati've been told......

some have the gt stamped on the right corner just under the valve cover and if the cast # starts with F and ends in AA so i've been told and have seen on other heads off different boards.
