i know 8" wide wheels sometimes rub at full lock if the backspacing isn't the allowed size, but thats not what i'm worried about.

i want to know if you can fit a 275 tire on a 17x8 rim, and if the 275 will fit under the fox. i've think i've heard that 255 is the max you can go with under a fox...

are we talking fronts? If so, then no. You can run a 275 out back with the right backspacing though

The 275 will go under the rear with the lips rolled.

A 275 will easily fit in the back - the front is a different story...

oh yeah, and will a 255 fit up front?

You can run a 9", but backspacing has to be perfect, and you MIGHT have to roll the lips.

A 255/40 MIGHT fit up front, but it'll be close...

so i would suppose 245's would fit fine...i just want as much tread touching as possible...8 inch wide is skinny enough

The '93gt currently has 9" rims all the way around.
Do not remember what tire size I put on them though
17"x__x__ will have to look after while to see.

I've had 9" wheels all around a fox before. You just get used to not turning lock to lock and it will work. I had 245-45 on mine, but a 275-40 would work fine on the back.

what ever i do i want to be able to rotate so i want the same size (just becuase u cant run anything more than a 9 really so it aint worth diff sizes unless its a 10 wide)

with the 245-45 do you have to re-calibrate the speedo or is it still stock overall hieght?

I used to have 245's on the front of my fox and 275's on the back, 17x8 GT wheels...

will 4.5" backspacing on a 8" wide wheel rub in the front?

also what tire sizes could i run on 15x8 draglites?

Possibly a difference between a '79 car and a '93? Or maybe a backspacing difference?

Backspacing is the BIGGEST variable here, guys. The BS needs to be perfect for a 9" rim to not rub in the front. Wheel out too far, and it will hit inner fender or fender lip. Wheel in too far and it will hit the control arm/strut. A lowered car makes a big difference. Also, some of the cars may have the steering rack limiters - lock to lock on them won't be as far as a car without them.

I use to run 17x9 on the '85 when I raced, I ran a 245 40 on all 4 which was not enough rubber at all.

I had a lot of friends that ran 255 fronts and 275 in back, and did know a couple of guys that ran 275 on all four, but on a 16 x 9 rim.

Grant it though that these were race cars which never see even close to a full lock to lock condition.

I would think that as stated above if you have correct back spacing you can do a 17x9, perhaps having the 245 front and 275 rear would be the best combo, but if you must rotate, look at 245 or maybe 255 on all four.

Also don't forget that you could do a rack limitor shim to prevent a full turn in.

i've been looking at the weld draglites 15x8's they have a 4.5" backspacing do any of you guys know if i could run them with 255's all around?

also i have been looking at another set of rims that are 17x8 with 4.95" backspacing, could i run a 255 on this? <=== i would prefer this setup (larger, cheaper tire selection)
