i was wondering how much a shop usually charges to finish a long block assembly and then drop her in and recalibrate the computer to accept new injectors...

any ideas.....:dunno:

i know the total job on the ranger was 10k but the engine came with the intake and injectors and was only like 3k but on the other hand they had to custom make trans mounts and cut a new hole in the floor to get that to fit, and run custom exhuast.not to mention he bought a new t-5 for the truck for like 1 or 1.5k. he also got a new complete rear axel assembly and all of the other nic naks that went into the final product which a fox body would have already had....

Sometimes it costs a "LOT".
Depends on what kind of car and which shop
that you take it too......

depending on the area labor rates. It can be anywhere from $65-$80 an hour

In our area just to swap an engine runs about $65-$85 hr. (shop rates) If they are quick it can be completely finished in around 8 hours if there are no complications of course.

Dang Lee got his post in before mine!!! :D

We dont do the engine work here in house as far as rebuilds go. I pull them and send them out to proline race engines.

I didnt relize how much mechanics charged. My stepdad is like a "shade-tree machanic" and he can do a engine swap eazy ...I guess he should go in buisness.
