First off I'd like to thank QWKSNAKE for the invite to his site here. I currently have an 89 gt and moving to Lynchburg TN, anyone else from around that area? I had a vortech s/c on my car until it was stolen, now I would like to build the car up to at least 300 rwhp n/a. I'm going to take the block to Mike's Speed Shop in Murfreesboro TN(www.mikesspeedshop.com) anyone used him, and can you tell me if those prices are reasonable on his site. Then install either D.S.S. engine kit or a federal mogul kit from summit racing, they both are forged but the D.S.S. is $50 more, which one you guys reccomend. then AFR 165s and Edelbrock Performer intake, and then a custom cam to make it all work together. I would like to keep it streetable, but also have some balls at the track if it ever sees one. What are your thoughts on this? Also I'll probaly hook a 150hp shot of juice up to it too. All comments and suggestions are appreciated, thanks!!

I'd go with AFR 185s, personally. They'll perform great with that setup, and even better if you add a power adder down the road.

Welcome to the site. :jeanyus: :chug:

He will have to be more picky about cams if he does. Wrong cam and valves will kiss the pistons with 185's on a 302.

Welcome to the site. We do have at least one member here from Tennessee that might be able to answer your question about the performance shop you are thinking of

I'm thinking the 165's are the way to go for the street. I talked to Brian Rogers from BBK and he has a 92 cobra with a 331, 165s, SSI intake, custom cam, and he said he raced a viper on the street and they stayed neck and neck all the way up to 120mph. I don't think I'll see track use but maybe a few times a year.

I would do 185's with a 331 setup.

I think you meant 93 cobra also :D

i am planning to drop a 347 in my car and i'm pretty much set on the 185's 1500-6500 RPM range i believe....might be wrong but its pretty good for the street and will last you all the way up to the redline

Hey, I have a '92 Cobra :poke:

Can I ask why everyone wants AFR heads? They're nice, but for $1300, they should be.

For what you want, the Ford GT40X heads would be great. I have seen them for $999. Saves a good bit and will do the hp you want.

As for DSS or Summit; there are other choices there too. Do some more research before deciding. :nice:
