I wanna get new wheels and tires but I'm not sure which size. I don't really wanna run more than 295s out back so what is the widest wheel I could get away with that would give my car a mean rear look. I wanna stay with 245s or maybe 275s on the front. Could I do 275s on a 9 inch wide wheel? Also Nitto 555s vs. BF Goodrich G-force KDWs?

Nitto 555s > BFGs. Nittos are probably the best tire out there for what they cost. Do you want drag radials on the back or a regular street tire? 275s on a 9" wheel in the front and a 315 drag radial on a 10 or 10.5" wheel in the back looks sick.

EDIT TO ADD: I'm running 275 Kuhmos on a 9" wheel on the front and 315 Nitto DRs on the back on a 9" wheel.

I run 255/45-17 Nittos all the way arround on a 9" rim. It's almost perfect - they bow in very slightly, but that should help handling a little by reducing sidewall flex in the corners.

I'm sure you could do 275's on a 9" rim and the look would be really good.

I think I wanna do 555s on the front and 555Rs out back. Although how many miles would I get out of the 555s vs. the 555Rs? I'll probably end up going with 275s on the front and 315s in the rear with a 9 inch in front and a 10 in the rear.

Excellent combination! :nice:

That's exactly what I used to run before I bought a set of dedicated track wheels/tires -- I'll prbably go back to drag radials for the street though, once I get the new motor built and put in. ;)

You shoud get about twice the mileage out of the 555 street tires on the front compared to the 555R drag radials on the back -- unless you do a lot of smoky burnouts. :burnout:

I'll probably end up going with 275s on the front and 315s in the rear with a 9 inch in front and a 10 in the rear.

You'll pretty much have to if you want to be able to use 3rd gear. :burnout: :metal:

Don't you guys have problems with the 275s rubbing on the front? A few people were saying their 255's were rubbing and that they wanted to go smaller?

275's can be run on the front of 99-up cars with no problems. 98 and below cannot due to rubbing issues

I got ya now, I thought they were talking about fox bodies
:headbang: So can someone tell me the biggest wheels/tires that will fit on fox body (89 gt)?

245s will work fine, but might rub just a tad at full lock. Most people seem to just get used to not turning the wheel all the way.

245's don't rub. Its going to a 9" wheel that rubs. The wheel rubs the lower a-arm

Jeanne's 96 has 275's all the way around with no rubbing, even after a 1 3/4" drop. :P

black/w the chrome lip goes go on jus about every color i've seen. its the contrast that makes it work.

the dished 500's are not as deep as the dish on bullitts(roughly 1.5 inch)

ask Flashbang :D

Yep, you don't get near the deep dish look from the 500's as you do the bullitts. ;)
