as long as you have pedestal mount rockers you 'should' be fine (unless the sn95 valve covers are shorter than I remember

I had the motorsport 1.6rr on mine before and with the stock valve covers, I had to clearance the end rockers and the two in the middle of the heads.

The 94-95 are stamped steel and lower profile that the fox covers.

Correct, there's also the baffle area that often times has to be removed. I've seen some that only had to notch this area and others that completely removed it. I had to remove mine. ;)

Believe it or not, the cobra valve covers I tried on mine wouldn't fit either. They were actually too slim and hit the rockers if I remember correctly.

That's odd being that cobras came with roller rockers.

Yep, that's what I thought and the reason I tried it. But it was a no-go. Or atleast that's what I remember. Heck I could be wrong. I just remember something not working for my application with them.

Ah crap, just get the BBK's if you like them. Heck, if your gonna change, might as well upgrade right?? :D

They even came with the 1.7 RR that would make more lift. Seems strange.

my 1.7's fit without doing anything to the valve covers, i have compared the cobra covers to the gt ones side by side, for sn95's anyhow...... only difference i could see was they have "COBRA" stamped into them.

Tommy: were you using stock heads, and pedestal rockers?

That is the only difference in them, and yes I was using a stock head and pedestal mounts.

guess i can't switch without changing valve covers.......I had actually thought about pulling the heads and having them machined for stud mount rockers if i can't get the valvetrain straight :fuss:

One_live95

One_live95

just a follow up... the rockers wont fit!!!! haha... its okay... got valve covers on the way... anyway... for all you wieners that said that my 544 544 cam wouldnt fit... you were way wrong... still got plenty of play... but im glad i checked anyway... feels better to be sure... so thanks for insighting the doubt... cam is in... intake is on... but the valve covers dont fit, and neither did the fuel pressure regulator... but its coming too...

so how much clearance did you have with the cam?

Valve - - - > :kissmyass < - - - Piston

doesn't the intake and exhaust clearances differ?

just learning here?

jason

jwillburn119
02-06-2006, 02:05 PM
i had close to .2 both intake and exhaust side... that is bolt down with no gasket at all, and no the intak and exhaust open at aexactly the same rate... thats why its .544 .544, if it was a .544 and .540, then they would differ

jwillburn119
02-06-2006, 02:08 PM
correction... it was .2125 exactly... so there will be no
piston---> :kissmyass: <---valve

i recalled COMP later, and they told me the same thing...

.2125.........thats a lot of clearance...i sure hope all is well with the combo

jwillburn119

yeah that much clearance suprised me too... but it doesnt bother me... makes me feel better... i will post pictures of the intake when i get it done... and also get some dyno numbers... i have to wait for a fuel pressure regulator to get here on wednesday, and valve covers... but it should be ready to go by thursday... its a good looking setup... just gotta clean up the stuff around it... wiring and brackets... just wanna get it on the road first... its my daily driver.
