it can be done.but it will require more than just a 306.although that will be one of the main parts of the combo the suspension will need to be setup correctly.with that here is what i would build.306 with good eagle rods and some good forged pistons(ross, brc, diamond, etc)you can use a stock crank but getting a good forged one would be nice.a main girdle,a set of ported Brodix ST 5.0 heads,Cam Motions custom grind cam,Holley systemax intake, and the rest of the fuel system parts.

i have seen this same combo with an off the shelf F303 cam:D run 7.30's in the 1/8th mile in a 3000lb 5 speed coupe.

NMRA Factory Stock guys have a max cid. of 310. Many run high 11's.

I ran a 12.5 at one time, this was a carb moter, B cam exhaust, E7 heads with 1.86 and 1.54 valves, lakewood 90/10 and 50/50 and eibach springs, and 4.10 with a t-5.

I was still running a street slick, and could not hook up.

I firmly believe with a slick and practice it would had been high 11's

:werd: My 109 mph is valid for an 11...maybe if I had a 1.40 60' and didn't granny it into 3rd.

Yep you could go 11s if it just makes around 300rwhp, but it will take drag suspension and driving the crap out of it.:yup:

I was at a outlaw race at Emerald Coast dragway in Holt Fl. end of last year. There was a '03 Cobra clone there with UPR sticker on the side. Jeremy Martella or something like that, nice guy. He was draging the bumper on launches and running 6.00's. with a liberty trans or something. When I asked him what the motor was a 308 with twisted wedge heads a single carb. BAD boy, then he said Bill Glidden built it. I could tell it sounded alot like Gliddens, it was winding really hard. That was the most impressive N/A car I have ever seen.

I think he wants to do this with a "street" car. Jeremy is one of my good friends who I talk to every wk. Thats a bad ass Glidden piece in the car, but it has some "outrageous" parts in that motor. He turns that motor about 8800rpms. Its far from streetable. Jeremy was the first 10sec cast iron headed S/W car about 3-4yrs ago.
