Can anyone tell me the proper backspacing and offset for 17x9 wheels for the fox bodies?

5.71"/18mm, 5.94"/24mm, ??/20mm ?

i believe the 5.94 will be fine

I can't rememeber but I was thinking that 5.94 is the sn95 offset and 5.7" was for the fox

Would OEM 5 lug 03 Cobra's fit??

6.12" backspacing

I am thinking that would require spacers

just checked...on a fox you use the 5.71/+20mm offset with a 9" wheel

 the wheel's that we've found so far are ... [see attached links]

4 lug - 5.71" / +18mm (http://customwheelsmarket.com/ford-oem-style-and-replica-wheels-ford-mustang-2003-svt-cobra--4-lug--oem-style---replica-chrome--tr.html) , 5.94" / + 24mm (http://customwheelsmarket.com/ford-oem-style-and-replica-wheels-ford-mustang-2003-svt-cobra--4-lug--oem-style---replica-chrome--tr.html) , and ??" / 20mm (http://www.partshopper.com/shop/O-E-Concepts-03-Cobra-17x9-CHROME-m202.html)

5 lug - 6.12" / ?? (http://www.buyfordracing.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=283) , 5.95" / 26mm (http://www.coolblueperformance.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=671), and 6.02" / 26mm (http://customwheelsmarket.com/ford-oem-style-and-replica-wheels-ford-mustang-2003-svt-cobra--5-lug--oem-style---replica-machined-a.html)

one other thing, will 255's be the largest tire she can run up front?

please do not put 03 cobras on the car...thats all you see on fox bodies now......put some argent fr500's on it......and the 255 can be used in the front but may scrub a little on deep turns.i would only do a 245 on the front

255/40 will work fine and be less likely to scrub than a 245/45 because of the lower sidewall profile that it offers.

With the 5.9 offset the wheel 'may' sit in to far but we are only talking around a hair over a 1/4" difference. Of course that maybe enough to limit tire sizes that you can run on the rear due to rubbing on the quad shock.

Brian had some small spacers at one time for a 5-lug car. Get the wheels and trial fit them. If they don't work without hitting something, get some 1/4" spacers to put on and they should work without a problem

If I am not mistaken, I'm thinking that I had read an article in the past that said something to the affect that you could flip the quad shock to get a little more clearance? Is this correct?

take the quad shocks completely off........trust me.if you plan on future suspension mods anyways they will become useless.take them off :D

Thanks for the offer, but Jon's right, they're not my first choice even though I like the way they look on a fox body. ;)

Ok....finally decided for sure which wheels I'm going with - '03 Cobra's (thanks to Joseph posting the pic in another thread :nice: )

Want to check with you guys one last time for input on the backspacing and offset before I make the order.

17x9's with a 5.71" backspacing / 18mm offset and 255/40's for tires?

I think they look good. While I see a lot of Foxes with those wheels on the internet, I've never seen a Fox on the street around here with '03 Cobras on it. I think they look great. Clean and simple, which to me fits the Fox body style perfectly. :nice:
