I bought a new battery from advanced auto parts in December. The battery is now dead or low so I took it back to exchange it for another. Is there anything you can think of in a 1998 GT that may have a short. Or do you think it may have been a bad battery?

The battery should have some type of warranty I would guess. Have them check it out and replace it under warranty if it's bad.

I got the battery replaced, is there anything in the car that could have drained it or do you think it was just a bad battery

No problem, any ideas on what to check for the short if one.

Hmmm, you know... I just may have some interior peices laying around -- I forgot that I had stripped a lot of that stuff out of the '91. I'll check and see what I have, Joe.

That's for buying an Autocrap battery from Advance. :jester:

A lot of times a battery just dies for no good reason...I haven't noticed it as much with the Super Start's we carry at O'Reilly, but it happens from time to time. Just a bad batch, I guess. I'd be concerned if the replacement dies in a short time, though.

do you have a car alarm? I know you said that you didn't have an aftermarket radio.

Our 01 does that when it sits for 2 weeks or so without being cranked. How long did you go without cranking before you discovered it was dead?

89 Hoss

10 days the first time, 2 after I jumped it off. Yes it has an alarm.

The alarm is doing it.

When you jump it off next time, drive it for 15-20 minutes at a decent speed (45mph up) Try to keep the tach around 2k rpm when driving. That way the alternator will be giving full charge.

After doing that, get in the habit of driving it once a week OR unhook the battery anytime you think its going to sit
