Just wanted to make sure that there won't be any clearance issues before we tear into this thing. The plan is to stick with the Ecam for the time being due to the automatic and swap it for the TFS once she does the 5 spd conversion. Will be using 6.7" pushrods and 1.6 rockers that were included in the Street Heat kit. I don't see why there would be a problem, but better safe than sorry.

Everything will work, but I dont really understand the point in swapping the cam again later on. Why not just put the tf cam in to start with? Unless of coarse you just like having to tear the engine apart twice.

because she's not doing the 5spd swap right now and isn't planning on putting a stall on the auto, so she'll be sticking with the ecam until she's ready to do the conversion ;)

They look very similar in terms of stats. You might as well go ahead and swap out the cam while you are at it. I really don't think we'll have a problem with it being an automatic.

I think pretty much any aftermarket cam isnt going to start making power until around 2500 rpms, including Fords alphabet cams. Not positive on that but I just dont think you are going to see that big of a difference between the two.

Yeah, I just looked over the recommendations on trickflow's site, she could probably get away with it for the time being ... It's still her call though.

I had originally thought that this cam was recommended with 5 spd, but that's the next cam up.

I would def swap the cam while you are in there already.

Another thing I found interesting about the TFS setup .. it recommends 32-36 degrees of total timing for best power results.

32* total would be a 16* base timing.

I used to run 42* total timing all the time.

The only reason I don't run it much anymore is because I'm afraid I would forget to switch the tune over before using the nitrous. . .

42* + N2O = :bomb:

What upgrades did you have to support running 42 deg.?

:werd:

I burned up several plugs by forgetting to swap to the n2o tune

Well, different motors act different ways to timing. I have seen 302s that didn't even like 14* base timing; mine doesn't seem to care (imagine that :D).

On a side note, you really couldn't run 42* total without some type of tuning software. If you tried to do that using your distributor, you would end up with a base timing of 26* and that would likely wreak havoc on everything else but WOT.

Why? So he could still beat you with melted plugs? That would be insult to injury wouldn't it?

Not to mention the fact that he could probably still switch tires and drive that damn coupe home. :jester:
