I have a new Profrom (15") electric "puller" right now. I need a "pusher". The pulleys are too wide (10 Rib charger & crank) & the belt will hit the fan I have. What do you think?

(I know I have to remove the A/C stuff to mount a pusher)

Thanks ;)

I have a single Advance-Auto brand 16" fan. Hooked up with a relay & my fox 5.0 is cool as ice in this cool weather. You can hook it up either way too, so it could be a pusher... It's like $80 bucks.

FWIW, the cfm ratings on most of the aftermarket fans are GREATLY inflated. Also, a pusher fan isn't nearly as efficient as a puller. I would suggest moving your rad/condensor forward, and then going with a MN-12 (TBird/cougar) electric. They are pretty thin, and have enough power to cool your combo.

Oh, the fan kits that DCC sells use that fan. I would actually suggest getting one of their fan/controller setups. WELL worth the money.

I could not agree more. I have the Taurus fan and the DCC, and it cools great. The way I used to have it cycled the fan on and off alot. Now it bareley turns on unless I am in the throttle a lot.

I have the same setup. Works great pulling air through my 3 core intercooler and 3 row radiatior.
:nice:

I don't have the room to move the rad up more.. As you can see the pulley looks like it will only work with a pusher fan?? Whata think??

I think you need to sell that thick ass fan to somebody and put a taurus fan on there. you will get better cooling and the fan will free up a lot more room.

i would take pics of my setup but the cobra is at Italian's house right now. Maybe he will see this and snap some pics of it tonight so you can see the taurus fan installed

Anyone have a link to where I can buy the taurus fan?

Thanks ;)

wait until pics of somebody's shows up before you go and buy it.

I am pretty sure that it is at least an inch less (if not more) thick than your current combo, covers a lot more of the radiator and pulls 3800 cfm.

Let's see if a pic shows up tonight

The taurus fan also sit off to the drivers side more than the other do. This allows for more space for the S/C on the passenger side. I have a couple of pictures of the engine bay that show the fan. It may not be the best pictures but I think you will get the picture.

You still have plenty of room to move your rad forward. The trick is to get it as close to the upper rad support as possible. Then, you modify your lower brackets to bring the bottom of the rad forward, tilting it at about 5° or so. Look at the pix in the gallery link below to see what I'm talking about. I know the mods I made to the rad support look kind of rough, but the support itself is damaged on the bottom from a ditch (prior owner) so I wasn't too concerned about it.

Also, you should get the MN12 (tbird/cougar) fan assembly. It is thinner than the taurus/mk 8, and has almost the same amount of flow as the taurus. The shroud can be trimmed even more as well.

I ran the Taurus Fan on my 93L for almost a year and it worked great. Now I have the Mark8 fan and a DCC.

Big :nice: on the DCC !!!! :metal:

Ok guys.. Back to this topic. I have the radiator back in & all the belts on. I only have 3.5" between the radiator & the crank pulley.

The Taurus fan is 4.5 inches at the fan motor and 3.25 at the shroud. The fan motor is offset to the drivers side. It may fit.

I was thinking about this one..

It's only 3.190 in. thick & is rated at 4,000 cfm.. ??

For a little more money, you can get the whole fan/fan controller kit from dccontrol, with a TRUE known cfm and PROVEN use/success in the stang community. Be advised that many fan manufacturers have their cfm ratings at rather "lofty" levels...

www.dccontrol.com

Fan number - 3018-M - $339.95

Or, you can purchase an OEM MN-12 electric fan (ford tbird/cougar) fan at your own source, and get the fan controller separate to save a few bucks (controller FK-35).

The fan is only half the equation - you NEED a good fan controller like the dcc unit to run it right without eating alternators...

But it looks like the 3018-M is 5.25" thick.. I need 3.5" or smaller.

It is my opinion that the factory units will pull more air than those aftermarket units as 93Cobra#2771 noted. You can go with the aftermarket one if you do not want to customize the unit but you maybe disapointed in the cooling abilities.

I have the Taurus fan with the DC controls fk35 and I have had no problems what so ever. Mine may get to 200 degrees on a real hot day.

How many times are you going to mention a MN-12 fan in this thread :poke:

Shit, I've mentioned it so many times in so many threads on so many boards, I've lost count!

I didn't go back and review my posts in this thread like I normally do...

Seriously, like Clint suggested, if the fans won't keep your ride cool, what good is it if they fit?

I know of several blown combos that use that setup. The key is that the fan is offset to one side, so that 5" isn't aimed right at your WP. And, you can relocate your rad forward (at the bottom) a good 4-5 inches, making it MUCH easier to fit a decent fan in there...

OK.. So tonight I'm going to move the bottom of the rad forward & see how much room I have to work with.

Thanks :chug:

When you look at my radiator from the top of the car, you can see the entire bottom of the rad support where the radiator USED to sit. I pulled it THAT FAR forward. Doing that gives you a TON of room. BTW, this is with the MK8 fan, which is about the thickest thing out there (but one of the most powerful)...
